Was a big fan of this comedienne (if you haven't heard of her, she's currently the biggest name in comedy in the US), for about a week. Saw her on a few panel shows, and Jonathan Ross, and she was extremely funny.

She sort of does a caricature of the American Jewish Princess ideal, and makes a lot of jokes about race, religion.. a lot of the time she's offensive for the sake of causing offensive, but can be hilarious.

VERY disappointed to hear from a friend who attended her gig at Shepherd's Bush Empire in London that she was over an hour and a half late, did a 40 minute set of recycled material, then went off to boos.

They turned the lights on and opened the doors for people to leave, but nobody moved. My mate says then a slow clap started including the lads from the mighty boosh. Anyway she had to come back on and do an unrehearsed 5 minute Q&A session, before leaving off stage, straight out the stage door into her waiting car!!!

A total of 50 minutes set, with no warm up act, after an hour and a half wait, at a cost of £58 per ticket.

I am no longer a fan.

A quick google search says they basically showed her second DVD "Jesus is Magic" on a big screen, and charged £9.50 for it. She wasn't even there.

I'm going to start doing this, I'll be showing some old Ken Dodd comedy routines I taped off the telly later on tonight, tickets only £5.

Sounds rubbish. £50 was ridiculous for Silverman anyway considering she isn't even that big in the UK, and to do less than an hour is disgusting. Say what you want about Lee Evans, who only charges £30 for his shows, but he works bloody hard for the audiences money with 150 minute sets and genuine humility and appreciation. It's a shame some celebs take their money-making ability for granted!

I think though this has harmed her, there were 3600 comedy fans in that venue, lots of which with ties to the industry. I'd be very surprised if she ever worked again in the U.K.

If there are enough suckers to pay £50 the first time, there will probably be more again in a year or so. I doubt the industry cares that much as long as the act gets bums on seats. I know this isn't going to be popular with all but Ricky Gervais has phoned in 3 short comedy shows and people still pay through the roof for him.

Well yeah, but there's phoning in and then there's not being fit for purpose. She read all her punchlines off cue cards for goodness sake.. and if I hear that Kanye West/Obama joke once more..

She was funny for a week, now I really can't stand the woman!

Tickets ranged from £30 to £50.. 3600 at an average of £40 = £144,000. What is disgusting about all this, is that she seemed to think it was normal to do a 50 minute set - and was put out by being forced to go back on! Her opening line in her encore was; "So, how come you guys won't go home? I'm all out of stuff"

Dear me.

I dunno, I'd rather be treated with contempt by a brilliant comedian than have enough of my brain removed to enjoy Lee Evans. Contentious issue this year, though. Some people thought Dylan Moran's set was taking the piss last week at the comedy fest. Gotta vote with yer wallet I suppose - I've changed my mind about Oasis's stadium tour next summer after their measly 90 minutes at Wembley t'other night (they'll be gutted, I know...)

P
tedious in the extreme, if you paid money for her you must be out of your mind. telling jokes about black people in an ironic way, and being a bit rude for a girl. hardly edgy f***ing stuff.

i do like the well say what you like about lee evans but he grafts for his money comment though. that sort of logic is comedy genius, go and see another really shit comedian instead who will at least work up a sweat. now THATS funny.

i would love to have a go on her though.

Me too. Great tits. Can anyone name the film that has both her and Evans in it?

Yeah but he isn't shit. That's not my logic, all I'm saying is that at least he's an example of someone who works hard for their high ticket prices. If you don't like him fine, but that's not really the point.

I'd pay the £58 for a 50 minute 'set' with her...
