It does when the pages are in the right order. Mine are.
Try Graham Hurley for some Pompey scallys, even better.

I read it on holiday (paperback), and halfway through, loads of the pages started coming away from the spine. MOST irritating. Who are the publishers ? They're a SHAMBLES.

(good book though)

Is that the one about the snuff movies - in which case I wish my copy had been missing some pages. Nasty book - not nearly as good as the first one.

Oh, and why does the paedo get off at Preston Park ? He didn't live anywhere near - and there didn't seem to be a game on.

There's been five Det Supt Roy Grace (an Albion fan) book from Peter James, and it didn't help that I read the third one first, then 1, 2, 4 and 5, as there is a sub-plot running through them about his missing wife.

Dead Simple - the stag do one
Looking Good Dead - the weird one
Not Dead Enough - the bloke found dead in Dyke Road
Dead Man's Footsteps - the 9/11 / body in Australia one
Dead Tomorrow - the kidney one

I saw Peter James give a talk about his book a few months ago; he is an interesting person to listen to. His stories are mainly given plaudits for the realism based on extensive research he has done by hanging out with the Sussex rozzers in John Street and Hollingbury.

He did also say that Granada are keen in making a series from his books, but he insists on keeping a level of artistic control, trying to keep the police method as realistic as possible, instead of the over-glamourising like you get in most cop shows. And he wants to show a seedier side of Brighton, instead of the usual Pier/Pavilion/seafront/'Bohemian' images with which Brighton is normally portrayed.

Interesting stuff.
