Planning on taking the missus to Manchester for the weekend- never actually spent much time there so was wondering if the fine people of NSC could recommend anything to do there? Cheers in advance.

What are you looking for?

Food, clubbing, sport, drugs. If it's a tan you may be disappointed.

if you like Chinese/ Cantonese go to wings resteraunt you can't get Chinese food like that in Brighton, high end good bars Australasia and alchemist plus there's a pop up outside bar called the yacht club in spinningfields if it's nice

The best museum is the science and industry museum it's brilliant

Check out El Rincon tapas restaurant between Deansgate and Granada studios. Basement restaurant great food, lots of old football shirts. Has a real cult following with sports & media types
Longworth Street, Manchester, M3 3BQ
Tel. 0871 246 5643

Another cult place is The Circus Tavern, the smallest pub in Manchester. Brilliant photos of George Best and everyone who has past thru Manchester in the last 50 years.
86 Portland Street, Manchester, Greater Manchester M1 4GX (map)
Tel :0161 236 5818

Enjoy

Anything really, I know literally nothing about the place, just fancied trying somewhere new. Looking to soak up as much of the local culture as possible really and check out a couple of nice restaurants and bars in the evenings.

Cheers, sound advice I'm sure

Loads to do in Manchester - great place - shopping is great - nice pubs - The Oast House is a favourite of ours - they have a wheel like Brighton's - loads of decent pubs near the printworks. Its a lot better since they rebuilt it after the bombing. You will have lots of fun

San Carlo is rated one of the best places to eat In Manchester.

Behind there is a bar called Mojo's which is a cocktail come rocknroll bar which IMO is one the best in manchester! Avoid the Printworks...this is West Street but in Manchester....AVOID!!!!!!

Castlefield Locks are a load of bars full of pretentious WAG wannnabees....enjoy....been here 7 years, never seen trouble!!

The wheel was taken down a few weeks ago.

If you want to impress your good lady see if you can book a table at San Carlo. It is often full but Mancini, Ballotelli and many other Manchester players are regulars. Food and atmosphere is good too.

Thanks everyone, will definitely visit the science and industry museum, Mojo, El Rincon and the Circus Tavern if we can actually get into it! Think I'll try and book a table at San Carlo for Saturday as well if it's possible.

If you go to Mojo....go early as it gets busy...but is a bloody good night if you like rock n roll / indie
