I think that Michael Jackson has overtaken Freddie Mercury in NME's Greatest Singers Poll.

Thats from what I can gather looking at the link.

Michael Jackson was a phenomenal singer, phenomenal dancer and phenomenal writer. I think it's fair enough for him to be top.

Dead people are always considered more brilliant once they're a corpse.

It's only meant to be judged on singing though. In that department surely Freddie walked all over Jacko!

Purely from the quality of voice there's no doubt that Freddie was in a different league to the late, squeaky paedo.

In terms of voice, stage presence, personality and charisma, Freddie is miles ahead of Jacko and most others.

IMO the greatest frontman in rock/pop music history.

Not really? Jackson had a fantastic range and used his voice in a very, very creative way.
