and can you recommend or slag them off before I buy :D

Swiftcover.com
Direct Choice

Both are half the price of Norwich (quote me happy, yeah right) Union Direct for comprehensive protected NCD.

I am insuring myself and my daughter on a provisional licence
on a 954cc car and object to paying £480.00 for an agreed annual mileage of 3500 max.

I know Norwich Union are ok at claim settling as I've been there done that but I'm a bit concerend about being given the runaround, in the event of a claim, from companies I've never heard of.

Anyone? Thanks

Edit my daughter is the one on the provisional licence not both of us

Never heard of 'em sorry.

However, I can recommend you avoid quoteline direct, no matter how good their quotes may seem.

I've been with Elephant for 3 years now and have no complaints. Never found a better price and they're very easy to get hold of and deal with.

try confused.com or moneysupermarket for comparable quotes. i've just saved 20% by switching from Norwich Union to More Than. Did see Swift cover but all online and as new you gets what you pays for. Car insurers will try all tricks so i always belief in paying a bit more. divide how much the extra is on a well known one and its hardly anything a week for piece of mind

imo, firms that offer such low rates may have no intention (or funds) to settle any subsequent claim..
Agreed. One of my customers has their house insurance with one of these cheaper companies and recently he had a fall in the bathroom which resulted in the overbath glass showerscreen crashing into the bath and badly chipping the bath enamel. The cost of an equivalent screen (top spec curved glass) was about £400 but the company would only cough up about £200 and refused to pay out anything for the bath.

I'd stick with Norwich Union mate.

As with most things you get what you pay for.

Sainsburys are very cheap, knocked Superwifes insurance down by a third.

An annual mileage of 3500 seems a bit odd. About 70 a week. Your daughter seems to need more than that for some worthwhile driving experience.

Use a local broker who you can chat to if you get problems. Paul Scully is excellent.

you'll find that they all use the same underwriter anyway. example Tesco insurance is underwritten by direct line - direct line wouldn't quote me on my old prelude but tesco did...
