Sorry if there's already a thread on this, I did a search and couldn't find anything. I'd like some new speakers in my car, can anyone recommend anywhere in Brighton/Hove or nearby?

Cheers.

I really recommend Street Sounds in Hove. Is right near hove station, did a BRILLIANT job on my car (without using rear shelving as I wanted to preserve the classic feel). The number is 01273 820685 and the guy who did mine is called Paul. He has such a good ear, because as I'm sure you know, car audio is very difficult due to the space and different materials confusing, absorbing and deflecting the sound.

Anyway, they're recommended!

Thanks, I'm not looking to spend a lot (no intentions of cruising down Madiera Drive on a Friday night in my Yaris), just want something a bit better and louder than the ones you get with the car...

Jeez, looking at their website it looks like a minefield!

Your probably better off going to the shop and seeing what they recomend, there not to pricey and wouldnt try and sell you stuff you dont want. if you said you just want basic stuff and a bit of an upgrade on your current stuff then thats what you'd get.

Although we live in Eastbourne one of my mates who was well into car stereo's used to travel over to Street Sounds whenever he wanted anything doing so can recommend them.

Can I just ask if you are using the standard head unit because if you are (and I'm sure they'll agree with me here) that is normally the reason why a car stereo sounds shit far more than the speakers. If you haven't already I'd upgrade the head unit before you do the speakers.

Really you should upgrade both, as the Headunit will probably be low power, thus the speakers will too. A decent headunit will be outing more power which you'll want decent speakers to transmit. But for £150/£200 you'll get a complete top quality set..

I bought a kenwood cd player last year... Went to in Car in eastbourne as I was working in the area... I assume that's what you mean by a head unit, I have no idea :p . I assume there's no parking if it's right next to hove station?

I had a good experience with the chaps on Old Shoreham Road when my stereo system went all busted.

They took 15 minutes to diagnose the fault and repair it and said it was so simple they wouldn't charge me for the small replacement part or their time!

Very nice men

It has got to be Huets! Big Albion supporters and not bad at fitting something to play your TDK C90's too!

Plug over!

Just been to see Roy, he was very helpful... Said the main problem was the fade/balance was set up wrong so the sound was distorting through the little speakers at the top instead of coming through the big ones. Said they were quite good for factory speakers. I may still get an upgrade, will see how it goes.
