When you have stitches how do they take them out presuming they do?

You can get disolvable ones now as well, that don't need removing, they just, well disolve.

I had stitches removed a few weeks back and having them put in was worse they getting them out.

I have been scared of needles ever since I was small and the junior doctor snapped a needle in my arm while trying to give me an injection!

Ask for disolvable ones, I think they are the most common ones used nowadays anyhow.

Needles don't bother me at all. But good luck with it!

Depends on the reason for having stitches! I wasn't but still pretty groggy when they were put in my head. Had disolvable ones deep down where you could see my skull and normal ones on the top.

Top ones were taken out by snipping the loop of each stitch and pulling the little bits out. Didnt feel a thing and was very quick.

I have a 9" scar on my leg which was stitched up under the skin, invisible stitches to create a smaller scar. A dot at the bottom of the scar line, where the thread entered, and a dot at the top where it exited.
The theory of getting it out was a quick 'yank' and the entire thread would slide out nicely.
Didn't work like that though, hurt like buggery as they pinned me to the chair trying to get it out...then it snapped and they left it in me.
I had it opened up again a few years later and the surgeon must have used a hammer and bolster!

Still, don't let that put you off

When I cut my head they said they couldn't stitch it as there is not enough skin on your forehead.

How did you manage to cut your head open anyway?

They stitched me up after I had fallen at school and struck my head on the corner of a table. You could see my skull. Having them taken out hurt like buggery but I think it was more because I was a kid and got myself in a state thinking about it.

May not be stitches they sometimes use staples.

I was quite shocked the first time i saw that, decided rather than go to hosp next time just get otu the rexel!

May even use glue, there is a sterile super glue where stitches not appropriate.

Staples are the worst to have removed. When I had a putty platt operation on my right shoulder to tighten all the tendons etc. they used in the region of 30 staples.

They removed the staples with a device similar to what you would use to remove staples in paper.

Ouch 30 times over.
