i have 4mb broadband from ntl(now virgin) and have an ntl modem box. every couple of days it stops working and the "ready" light flashes and the internet will not work for a few hours. does anybody else have this problem? any suggestions how i can get this to stop?

thanks

Abort, retry, fail
I have similar problems sporadically and unplug the modem at the mains for a short while. Then fire it up again. Bit of a pain!

Once you have a cable modem, can you switch to wireless? (Sorry to hijack!)

Phone Virgin up tell them this problem has been going on for ages, every time you turn it off and back on that is comes back and all that and you want them to come and test/repair/replace it. They'll come and do it all free of charge and leave you with one of their shiny new teeny tiny modems.

Don't keep paying for something that isn't working properly!

My shiny new teeny weeny one has been working continuously for a month without a glitch. And the modem's OK as well.

Wireless router - D-Link DI-624 less than £40. It also has 4 RJ-45 switched ports as well for wired connections.
