Hard to disguise from this list that I fall into the 'old fart' category, but I bet most people can name at least one classic track from most of these albums.

The Beatles, Seargent Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Simon & Garfunkel, Bridge over Troubled Water
The Beach Boys, Pet Sounds
Deep Purple, Deep Purple in Rock
Pink Floyd, Meddle
Status Quo, Piledriver
Supertramp, Crime of the Century
ELO, Out of the Blue
Michael Jackson, Off the Wall & Thriller
Guns'n Roses, Appetite for Destruction
Fleetwood Mac, Rumours

Boring By Sea
The Decline of British Sea Power by British Sea Power is probably the album I play more than any other so that would have to be in there at pole position. Along with that:
George Best- The Wedding Present.
Kid A- Radiohead
Trouble Over Bridgewater- Half Man Half Biscuit
Voot- Clinic
and all most anything ever produced by the mighty Fall.

yeah i'd go with Sgt Pepper's, Bridge over Troubled Water and Rumours. I also add:
Bruce Springsteen The River
The Clash Sandanista
Miles Davis Kind of Blue
John Coltrane A Love Supreme
Don MacLean American Pie

Flicked through these pages and hard to believe there's no Neil Young Albums.

What about

Harvest
After the Goldrush

Hugely influential

An under-rated gem...

which was the prototype that led on to this essential album...

Critics may argue over the merits of these, but the influence of the latter is well established.

I'm going to have to agree with this, because my favourite vocalist, John Wetton, has repeatadly said of his musical syle and influences " No Beach Boys = No John Wetton ".

So in the sense of what the Beach Boys have influenced, I'm going to nominate this :

Asia's eponymous first album sold over 7 million copies and spent 9 weeks at No. 1 in the Billboard charts.

Arcade Fire – The Suburbs

If there's going to be an Arcade Fire album, it surely has to be 'Funeral'. Brilliant album.

Agree with the other posters who voted for Gang of Four's Entertainment and My Bloody Valentine's Loveless.

On the Beach for me, but Harvest was his most commercial and best known offering so I can live with that.

With you there Kevo. Funeral is the best of the three Arcade albums by a long shot.

Yes, easily their best tho enjoyed The Suburbs too. You going to K6 on Fri?

Yes and really looking forward to it. Are you drinking anywhere in particular before hand? We have been going to The Fishbowl which is just around the corner if you want to meet up. Otherwise see you inside. Dont want to miss out the City Brass this time though.

If you put a Leonard Cohen album in then it has to be his first release - Songs of Leonard Cohen.
Transformer by Lou Reed is a must IMO as is any of the Stones 4 albums from the late sixties.
Exile, B of B, Sticky or Le it Bleed could all be included although I know it is limited to one per band or artist.
Little creatures by Talking Heads
If you want a Bowie one in then Hunky Dory or Ziggy Stardust are both of similar stature.
Rumours is a cert as is either Astral Weeks or Beautiful vision by Van although I much prefer the latter.
Now with Dylan things ger tricky but I,d plump for Desire because it maybe is just the best album in his collection but I suppose the arguments could go on forever just on his catalogue alone.
Automatic by REM ?

Haha - I think I'm happy to miss them this time. Maybe just about worth it for Sussex by the Sea!

We usually meet in the Cask and Kitchen (used to be the Spotted Dog and before that, the Hop Poles) in Middle Street. Will definitely be in there at some point.

Absolute bitch to choose which album, but I have gone for Low Life. There are still the scars of JD in it, combined with the movement towards dance in the form of Subculture and The Perfect Kiss. They were never JUST a singles band, although their singles were peerless for a time.

New-Order-Low-Life-474241.jpg

Great choice, but I would have gone for Power Corruption and Lies by a nose. I'd have both of them in a 100 list with

Stone Roses - Stone Roses
Tapestry - Carol King
Automatic for the People - REM
Rumours - Fleetwood Mac
Definately Maybe - Oasis
Hatful of Hollow - The Smiths
Strangeways Here I Come - The Smiths
Different Class - Pulp
Destroy Rock and Roll - Mylo
Beatles - Revolver
Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life

Not really a studio album but then neither is Hatful of Hollow - I would also have Substance by New Order as most tracks not on their studio albums and has B-sides to die for.
The Strokes - The Strokes
Radiohead - The Bends
Radiohead - OK Computer
Led Zeppelin IV
