I don't understand how a messageboard can be too left-wing. The messageboard can't think. If the majority of posters have a different view to you then either leave and post in an echo-chamber somewhere, try and understand where they are coming from and challenge your own views, or explain to them why they are wrong. Surely?

I've never really posted on other teams Boards, but every time I've had a look at them they've seemed a lot harder to use than NSC.

I do agree that the moderating is over the top- if you have a look at some of the NSC Gold threads from 2003 then you can see how different (and in my opinion better) NSC was then, but I think that's a reflection on the UK in 2024, rather than NSC.

The Board is definitely dominated by a minority of posters, but it always has been, hasn't it?

There is one moderator in particular who appears to act unprofessionally on quite a frequent basis... it doesn't make the site look good, or often result in a positive atmosphere.

Apart from that, the site is pretty good. The ignore thread function is a Godsend - but I wonder how messy and random the site must look to outsiders.

Oh and we need a Meat Up with people wearing T shirts with their username on
I think a social would be a great idea. We had a few back in the day (I remember one was on my birthday and I couldn't stay long). But no Meat Up though, a Veggie Up would be better :lolol:

I've wondered before if there's a way to have an 'Opt-In' function for thread types.

For example, by default the only thread types users are opted into are 'Albion' and 'Football'. Everything else is opted-out so you don't even see it on the main page. Then if you want to take part in 'Politics' threads or whatever else you have to go click a thing in your settings.

It's basically an aggresive version of the 'ignore thread' feature but it saves people having to do that themselves on a thread by thread basis.

Did yours and @Taybha paths cross at our hallowed cricket club ? I'm sure there would have been plenty of trees such a fetish could have taken place at.

As for NSC, I think there is no need for change. Some of the essays on here are great. You can ban threads about The Hundred though.

No, not all are from B&H but most are. And where else? Mid-Sussex, Lewes, Eastbourne - all Lib Dem, or Worthing with two Labour MPs. As I said, the slightly left of centre nature of NSC reflects the fan base
Not to mention the different definitions of left wing and different left wing factions.

When I was younger left wing simply meant socialist. You were a Labour voter and believed they looked after the working class. You believed in more government and more equality versus rampant capitalism.

On NSC we now have an infamous 'just print more money' lefty all the way to centre-left Starmer approvers, plus some Greens and Lib Dems (whose latest manifesto was arguably more left wing that Labour's). However, many on the right simply think that left wing is 'woke', without being able to define what 'woke' is.

If you think that the left is anyone from a committed communist to someone who doesn't hate muslims and trans people then there will be more leftism in ANY discussion because you've just thought of the majority of the population.

The ignore thread option has been a game changer.
NSC can now be whatever you want it to be.
42 ignored threads and counting.
Might make this one the 50th.

I have found the 'Ignore Thread' to really improve my NSC experience.
I have never blocked any individuals, but by filtering out numerous incidental threads that I have no interest in has certainly made things more enjoyable for me.

I spend far too much time looking at NSC and if for some reason I can't view it for a day or two it becomes a guilty pleasure catching up on all things Brighton.

Twitter is now a cesspit and Facebook I find the information very shallow.

NSC is my go to for Albion gossip and breaking news even though 75% of the rumours turn out to be rubbish.
But it's entertaining trying to work out what rumours might or might not have any substance to them.
Bozza once asked me why I thought Dave Kitson was a poor striker in the Withdean days when I randomly mentioned his name.

Then I realised we were interested in him. Thankfully not singed.

Oh yes.

I once had to distract him by falling through a chair (which was very badly made) outside the pavilion, as I could see him reaching for the jam and marmite.

I don't think it's about NSC changing, I think it's about people changing.

It's the internet, people have opinions. There's plenty of other topics to talk about if certain things trigger you.
Take everything posted on here with a pinch of salt and have a laugh.

I'd perma ban anyone who flounced and asked for their data to be deleted, which is a total PITA, only to come back later like nothing had happened.

How about when you start a thread you have to put a filter option on it..yeah….ok. Can you then filter your landing screen so it shows all the filter options and you choose what topics you want to,view. Or can you do that already?

it would be great to just see for example threads about football only for a change. Maybe that could be an personal option.

how about a button called “ I agree with this person” or “ this person agrees with me”. And you could filter out all the people who you don’t want to,see or who disagree with on your screen.

also remove the quote option to remove the need for tediously long threads.

worth a shot

Are they? Have you done a survey? Personally in the 49 years of supporting Brighton the fellow fans I know only a small percentage come from Brighton or Hove. And politically until the last election Sussex was mainly Tory.
