I have sent Mr 14th Eye a PM and offered to take a backseat role for Brazil of Brighton and perhaps a makeover (name change). After some disappointing results last year, it seems a good idea to hand over the captaincy.

That's not fair.
Going into the day there was no way at all of knowing how strong the teams would be, so apart from keeping Crowhurst and the Albion coaches apart, because they ought to have been the best two, the rest were drawn at random.

The fact that the 4 best teams made the semis pretty much proves I got it more or less right.

As for your sob story, Exiles only had a bare SIX players all day, so every one played every minute of the group games, and yet still managed to go 2-0 up against Crowhurst in the semi before collapsing at the end.
