No idea what the OP means but very enjoyable thread. One question; what is it about the change that makes it more ‘mobile friendly ?’

Hopefully they're being banned from advertising what mobile phone they're using, for instance...

Sent from my blah blah blah superphone

vBulletin 4, which we are using now, doesn't autosize and scale depending on the device being used. This makes for a pretty clunky experience on mobile phones, which I partially mitigated by deploying Tapatalk, which gives a nicer look and feel on mobile and tablets.

Xenforo does that natively, so no additional software required.

Update...

- There is likely to be downtime on Tuesday for the server migration. The test went well earlier this week, so fingers crossed for the same when we do it for real!

- The migration to Xenforo is not likely to take place before the last week of August. Ideally I wanted it done before the season started, but that's not looking likely now, primarily because my concern at having my holiday interrupted helping hundreds of people needing help to get logged into their accounts on the new software because they've forgotten the email address and/or the password they use on NSC!

That would be a good day for Boris to announce he is staying on after all then

Name, address, car reg number, bank details, card number, pin number and all your holiday snaps are posted on here anyway so you'll get hounded to the end of time anyway, so why bother deleting your account.

I'm sure that 'certain person' has better things to do than post replies and quotes to someone who's not on here anymore. Even if they do, you'd never know.

It's an anonymous forum mate. Clues in the 'anonymous' bit. You have your privacy.

pin number, really, I suppose you can't be too cautious.

But what if a marxist moderator ‘had it in for him’?

As part of the migration we're all having our personalities reassigned. I'll be a sort of Chailey Jem crossed with a Brexiteer, Goldstone1976 is becoming a conspiracy theorist and Bry Nylon is having a sense of humour by-pass.

I believe someone may have been a little premature

I knew you and your multiple personalties, would reappear his thread sooner rather than later.

To be fair, under. GDPR a person has a legal right to erasure. On a forum it could be argued it's artistic expression/freedom but then pseudonymisation should be used to cover the identity of the poster. Whether 'bashlsdir' is considered a pseudonym already is up for debate.

Of their account, yes. But Bozza can legitimately claim a "Continued Use Justification" for any of the content posted on public threads. Ergo the only thing that needs to be done is anonymise the account and delete / obfuscate any personally identifiable information (PII) on the account (given this is a flaky old vBulletin 4.x.x forum, that should be email address at the absolute maximum).

I probably could, but I don't. As you say there is very, very limited PII held on NSC about anyone, and what there is they have provided themselves, and have the power to edit/remove themselves.

If people ask for their accounts AND their posts to be deleted, I'm happy to do that.

Well, I say "happy" but to be frank, it's a complete pain in the arse to do - time-consuming and fiddly.

It's really interesting how, in days gone by, people would just drift away if they'd had enough for any reason. I've now had more "delete all my posts" requests in the last six months than in the preceding 20 years or so.
