So that's the indicator of how good a football system is then?

Of course it is, other wise we'd have teams going pop left right and center.

So far your argument is based on the fact you can wave a flag, have a beer and eat a hotdog. If that's your idea of what great truebluegunnergooner soccerball is all about then, I'll admit it, the Germans probably do it better.

I'm pointing out that the system in Germany can't be that great as outside of the top league they have very few professional sides and the attendances are f***ing pony. Apply that rational to over here and we'd all be watching Man Utd/Arsenal/Liverpool every week.

We have teams in the conference getting 4k a week regularly. Show me another country in Europe that can attract attendances of that level at the fifth tier. I bet you can't.

great fun - I went to watch fc Koln a while back at the mungersdorfer stadium (great name) - its was very empty and not that great - but as I was in the away end packed with fans from four different teams all signing about the shits from koln, it was great fun.
By the way - one of my favourite games that i've been to was watching the prague kangeroos (bohemians) beat budjevice 4-3, after being 3-0 down.

Decent beer? But ok it's still beer so I'll give you that. However up until last year you could do that at Lewes!! :D

Whoooopdefuckindoo!

:safeway:safeway2::safeway Please tell me you are joking?

Errrr as you've already pointed out, they have terraces!

Hmmmmm don't recall there being 3 German teams in the last 4 of a major european tournament recently??

Germans do allot of things better than us, but football isn't one of them. They are about 30 years behind us. Despite what your misconceptions are of the Premier League it's still the best league in Europe probably the world and England has the best and most loyal supporters in the world.

Oh and most importantly they are German so we shouldn't be giving them credit for anything! What next? The French are good at driving?

LOL - alright some of that made me smile, but the Germans do seem to have retained a fair chunk of what made pre-all seater/sky tv football fun. Koeln are a top flight club not Conference South which makes the beer, grub, prices and terraces significant IMO (also they have a goat).

No. My argument is based on the fact they have A)terracing while we have boring allseaters; B)beer on the terracing; C)fair prices - not 30 quid a go; D)co-operative stewards - not overzealous nobs ; E) good atmosphere - not occasional singing; F) A more competitve league where virtually anyone can finish anywhere and anyone can reach it without having to spend big money - unlike the tediously predictable Premier League; G) No playing up to plastic fans through the hyperbole and overeaction from Sky...

OK?

Quite, once again the rest of Europe is 20 years behind us.

That was a tongue in cheek remark, hence the smilie.

German beer, pah! Give me a good old English ALE any day.
Bratwurst?? Give me a good old English BANGER any day.
Prices......pah! German pikeys!
Terraces?? We wouldn't have won so many medals at the Olympics if we weren't so good at sitting down....I'm all for it!
Goat......Ok I'll give you that one!

Don't Mention The War
I've fallen in love with Hoffenheim. Top of the league by two points, village of 3,000. Just moved into a new stadium off 30,000. They were in sixth division 9 years ago, and that is equilvalent of the Conference North and their manager used to play for Southwick Fc. Now that is truely remarkable!

The Premier League might be the best league in the world BUT it isnt English. Why get all defensive about it? It just happens to be in England, that's all. The owners, players, managers, main investors (i.e. Sky) are all in the main, foreign.

and waving flags, standing and making a noise is not just tolerated by the stewards but positively encouraged.

What?

You mean PROPER football as the Good Lord meant it to be before the H&S gestapo took over?

I might be mistaken but I have not been to war with the Germans. Or anyone come to think of it.

I did have an argument at Hove station a while back though.
