From memory some of the teams I remember,Gateshead/ Barrow/Newport/ so I thought I'd look back at teams that were once football league clubs......Merthyr Town/Aberdare Ath./....and Croydon Common...(they did'nt have to tell me that!) I thought it was an early name for Crystal Palace but no,they were in the same league as were New Brompton. There are a few more,sure some can remember them.

Boston, Mansfield, Darlington, Wimbledon, Aldershot (now reformed of course), Chester, Kidderminster, Wrexham all a few of the more recent ones i can think of.

The three you mention are still around unlike New Brighton and Thames FC.

Thames played at the whopping 120k capacity West Ham Stadium in Custom House. east London.

It was the largest sporting arena of it's kind at the time, but ironically egistered the lowest ever league attendence with 469 turning up to see Thames take on Luton Town!
