I remember threads on here and headlines in papers with archive photos of cars burried in 10 feet high snow drifts and lakes frozen over with the obligatory headline " brace yourself for the big freeze ".

Tales of how a Siberian winter was to follow with the harshest winter for 300 years and lots of snow. Daytime / nightime temperatures staying below freezing for weeks on end. Advice to stock up on tinned products and keep an eye on your elderley neighbour.

We have not had a single frost in the month of January and today it is like a May day. Temperatures in the mid 50's and tonight minimum of 50 f is about 7 f above what the daytime maximum should be. Damp. Cloudy, Very Mild, week in week out.

A dusting of snow and couple of cold days at the end of December and thats it.

What a fecking joke :lolol:

Thats that for Winter, the sun warms things up from mid feb down here, so theres only 3 weeks of potential winter left and with temperatures pushing close to 60 degrees , it is warmer here than in many mediteranean resorts.

Ho Hum, the sledge will have to put away again, last used 1991.

It actually has been a bloody cold winter in Siberia, and that has effected most of eastern and central europe. My outlaws in Finland are putting up with -20 and lower at the moment.
It seems the Gulf stream is still protecting us, if that were to retreat...

Plenty of time yet, we are expecting 14 flakes of snow to hit the BBC Weather Centre on Monday 6th February at 08:14

Time to start stocking up again

I knew a down that was colder during winter. She were dead friendly with her hands, but had nothing upstairs but an icy droop from her nose.

Yes we have. There was a frost on Monday last week.

And Wednesday 11th Jan (last week) - in Southwick. I walked to the Romans and it was freezing with frost on the ground and cars.

I went to last Saturday's match in t-shirt and shorts...in January.

This is the warmest winter for years and it's just insane.
