[Albion] Not trains at all for Brentford.

If Boxing Day crowds in the 70s were over 20,000, without trains, the fact that there are none for the Brentford game would be a weak argument for not going. Only difference being the game is in the evening, thanks to the tv scheduling. If you're a fan, you'll find a way, if you're not, you'll watch whatever tosh is on television that evening.

Hmmm, bit of a location difference. Plenty of free parking around the park in those days. Also a lot more people living within walking distance.

It’s going to disagree with this point.

The Goldstone and many other football grounds were within walking distance of where many home fans lived.
I’ve met old school fans that traditionally enjoyed a walk on Boxing Day to see a match, even when they lived several miles away.
Parking was also easy near the Goldstone in the 70s, my father would park near Cardinal Newman school and we would walk from there to the ground, always seemed an easy option back then.

I don’t know if buses also operated on Boxing Day to be honest.

What a silly comment. You are ignoring the location of the Amex completely. When we were at the Goldstone it was easy enough to park somewhere in the vicinity. I went to plenty of Boxing Day games by car but have never lived in Brighton. The only way for many thousands of us is by car as public transport is non existent. Well done the club by trying to fill the gap but given the many thousands who usually use the train, it is a given that attendance will be hard hit.

I'm glad to see that Barber's PA is here on NSC and able to verify that the club did feck all about the KO time and were more than pleased to fund the extra busses, P&R facilities and the complete nightmare of work it's taken to sort out the various issues of transport, stewards, security, groundstaff etc... So that this game could go ahead.

There's no way that a 'fan' would assume the worst from the bloke who has had to spend countless hours sorting out the complete cock-up of a KO time.

If you actually read my post I said that the club have said nothing publicly, if they’d said they disagreed but nothing they could do then most of this bad feeling would have been avoided. But that doesn’t add up does it. We have had TWO 3pm kick offs this season, that in itself is a joke. THE CLUB DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE INDIVIDUAL FAN.

This is the bloke paid £2m a year yeah. We’re not allowed any criticism on him though? Even when he is saying nothing publicly about the impact on the clubs own fans. I’m disappointed with Uncle Tony too.

I believe it’s only one home 3pm kick off so far this season ( Everton ) plenty of away matches have been 3pm kick off though.

There's a Brighton game on Boxing day at 8pm. Not Ideal but If you want to go, go.
If you don't, don't go, stop moaning about it.
What's happened to Brighton fans? Since we got criticised for booing the manager & team it seems we now need to Boo the running of the club and other Brighton fans for lack of atmosphere.

We walked from Shoreham one year luckily got a lift back.

The irony being that it's highly likely the tosh on TV that evening will be our game.

Also, climb down off your super fan high horse. The air is nicer down here.

But that is the deal when playing in the PL. I’m afraid you can’t cherry pick the best bits and the TV companies pay a lot of money to constantly change kick off times. Blame the players if anybody because they are the ones pocketing the money. Nothing will change all the while fans are hero worshipping the very people taking the most out of the game.

Indeed.

Am I the only one who for finds this thread very odd? The club have done a decent job here in offering 5 Park and Ride options and shuttle buses from Lewes and Brighton with free parking at the former. There is parking available, at cost, adjacent to the ground. The majority of fans can get there if they want to. Else it's live on Sky. Decent options.

Boxing Day is always tricky for some. For others, who might be 'home' visiting family, it's a rare and welcome chance to get to a home game.

For every beating of Palace on Boxing Day there was a grim home defeat to Bristol Rovers, or the like. Or getting soaked at Withdean. Let's not get too entitled.

I started the thread to highlight that there were no trains in spite of the many assurances on here by some posters who thought there would be.

It was not my intention to criticize the club as I think they've done well from the very poor hand they've been dealt by sky. Maybe Potter could have spoken up in favour of the fans or something but he's no Klopp and that's okay.

I don't think much of the ire is against the club but coupled with the poor selection of starting times for home matches this season, this has led to a bit of a pile on.

I don’t think having one home 3pm kick off is acceptable when we have had six 3pm kick offs for away matches.
Great for our away support though.

Swings . . . . And Raaandabaats innit

TV is convenient for most, at a price, but its ruining the product it stole for profit . . . Now people are walking away it's only a matter of time before the next big shift, which is already happening. . . .where that leads and leaves us, who knows.
