BHA (20th) travel to East Anglia to meet Norwich (10th) in a crucial match for the Seagulls, to avoid slipping into the bottom three. The Seagulls are only 1 point away from Birmingham (23rd).
If Birmingham win at Rotherham & we lose, Wigan get a better result than us at home to Middlesborough & Bolton get a better result at Blackpool than us - then 23rd place is calling. On the positive front, if we win & other results go in our favour then we could jump to 15th. According to the bookies the most likely set of results is that we will finish the match in one of the relegation spots - 22nd & only above 23rd on goal difference. Let's hope the Manager shows the bookmakers are wrong.
Head to head, the Canaries have the upper hand with 32 wins, 23 draws & the Seagulls with 29 wins. Our recent form against Norwich is absolutely dire - 5 straight defeats. Indeed if you stretch back to the last 11 meetings, Norwich have won 9, 1 draw & 1 win, back on Boxing Day at Carrow road 1-0 in 2002. Remember the game well. Steve Sidwell scored the winner (my one & only time to Carrow road).
Our crumb of comfort is that Norwich are slipping a bit, with only 1 win at home in their last 6 games (4 draws), though we have failed to win away in this sequence!
