I'm not normally one for football facts but while sitting in a garage waiting area today I flicked through a book and saw a story about BHA. Evidently on Christmas day 1940 Brighton played Norwich. They travelled with only 5 players and made up the numbers with Norwich reserves and spectators. They lost 18 -0. Are there any stranger facts about BHA out there?

Taken from Brighton & Hove Albion On This Day:

Wednesday 25th December 1940

With World War II raging football continued under the auspices of
the War South League and the team – all five of them, one senior
player, three juniors and (as a guest) Bolton’s Jimmy Ithell – travelled to
Carrow Road. After borrowing some Norwich juniors and servicemen
from the crowd, Albion let the Canaries flap to a rather unflattering
18 goals without reply!

My memory (whuich may well be rubbish) is that we then played the return fixture on the next day (or a few days later) and let in another 10

I'm sure that we once played 2 games on Boxing Day. One in the morning, then all drove to the other ground and played the reverse fixture. Or was that a dream?

We got him on a free & sold him for a good profit, not strange at all
I think the replacing him with Richard Tiltman was "strange" if not bordering on mad!

£60,000 was NOT a good profit, even in 1984, on a player that later was involved in mulkti million pound deals
