Bloody stewards. North Stand should be a safe standing part of the stadium. Atmosphere will increase. People will enjoy it. Game is far more enjoyable and, most importantly, stewards can do f*** all if we stand and shout.

Don't they know that we STAND OR FALL

It will never be safe standing unfortunately, due to the price of getting the padded seats. I doubt Barber would let us anyway...

Woodchip & Sergio's, i understand what was said but i find it a bit frustrating certainly of late that this happens! Saturdays is the tall fella steward with the glasses shouting a kids etc and this tonight, i just find it hard to comprehend they are there to help us enjoy our time. :)

I wondered what was going on, couldn't cause everyone was standing on the seats!! Just heard it had something to do with the no necked steward

Even if he did, it's hard to imagine someone would be chucked out just for that.

Had there been a prior altercation of some sort and the "Stand up if..." was started, or perceived to have been started, to antagonise stewards seeking to get people to remain seated?

I sit directly in front of this fan who was thrown out mid way through the first half. During the first sit down sweep somebody behind him started the "Stand up if you hate Palace" chant, just like what happens at every other game the stewards. Most of the times the stewards hold their hands up and take it all with a bit of humour. Tonight was different. The two female stewards told him off for starting the song - he said he didn't and there was a yes you did no I didn't session. Five minutes later the two lady stewards came up again and everybody started singing again. Again he was accused of starting the song.

They then disappeared and back came 6 or 7 male stewards and told him that he had to come with them for a chat. He asked why but they refused to tell him, he had to go with them and talk to a supervisor. He asked if he can come back after the chat but was told "Depends what you have done as you are on camera". Eventually he agreed on the understanding that after the chat he would be allowed back. He was however passed onto the police and ejected.

Apparently he text his mate and told him part of the reason he was ejected was because of a sexist comment he passed onto a female steward. This however I cannot confirm.

He definitely did not start that chant but got throw out because a female steward said he did. There was no other prior problem tonight it was purely on the false information provide by the female steward to her supervisor.

I actually dislike the man, a lot!

Which reminds me, did anyone else see the slide on the screens that said something like "the best seats in the league - please use them"? I'd not noticed it before.

Yeah I've seen that a few times...I only use the seats for half-time. Quite amusing though :lolol: and very cringey

Nicely done, passive aggressiveness taken to the masses!!

The fan ejected in the first half did not swear, nor was rascist, nor sexist but if anything raised his voice a bit to defend himself at a charged atmosphere of a football match he was trying to watch
He was referred to as "Oi you" and treated in a completely unfair and arbitrary way IMO
The main steward appeared to have given his word not to eject the fella- and the fella never came back. Ejected I understand

Why dont club stewards WORK WITH FANS rather tha AGAINST FANS
They reap what they sow, and after time, so pssibly will the club

In Saturday's programme notes Paul Barber calls for us to be well behaved. That afternoon Bolton fans fight with the stewards. The next game our fans fight with the stewards. Up till then very little trouble at all.

At my presentation the previous Senior Management Team were selling seats in the North on the basis that If you bought a seat in the back few rows standing in them would be 'tolerated'.

The removal of this privilege by the current CEO led to the whole North Stsnd standing for a portion of the game. Rules have been changed without the punter being informed. No wonder the stewards get stick.

Don't make anyone out to be a martyr, they are simply a thug and a criminal and I look forward to them being dealt with by the Club and the criminal courts. Such people are the true scum and not worthy to support our great club.

So its ok for stewards to openly lie in order for somebody to get ejected is it

Never saw it due to the North Stand's mass meerkat impression, just assumed it was something to do with the appearance of Mark Bright and Richard Hebberd in the North Stand concourse

I sit near both instances - my take on the entire situation is both fans were asked by stewards to come with them to have a chat - both fans flat out refused to do so peacefully making their situations far worse. The second instance with the curly haired man was ridiculous. Not only did he refuse to go with the steward he then starting kicking off, when they tried to force him to leave.

All I can say is that if you have done nothing wrong why not do as your asked by a steward sort it out then return to watch the match. How stupid can you be to refuse to have a word and have to be forcibly removed and be banned from coming again? Grown men acting like children.

Right I will tell everyone on here now what has happened tonight as I am friends with most of the stewards at the ground. The club has been warned by the f.a. Not once but twice about persitant standing so the stewards have now been told to clamp down on it in every row apart from the back 3 rows which is what everyone knew when we first moved into the stadium. Now they are not going to throw people out for standing up now and again when something exciting happens in the game but if people constantly stand up all the time then they will be warned once or twice then if they carry on they will be either taken downstairs and given a severe warning by a club official or will be escorted from the ground for that game then if they do it again in following games then they will be banned for an amount of time. The first guy ejected tonight verbally abused a female steward and has also been warned in the past about persistent standing and the second guy was also ejected for persistent standing and yes I love the hate palace stand up song as much as the next Bha fan but it seems like now it only gets sung just to wind up the stewards not to bring us all together in unity against palace. We all know what the f.a. Are like they like making examples of clubs or people so lets not let it be the Albion who get a fine or worse any points deducted or something for us as fans not sitting down when we should be. And yes I am good friends with the larger steward you guys are going on about and I can assure you he is not billy big bollocks or up himself he is actually a big Albion fan but he gets paid to do a job so he has to do it, he does not want to throw anyone out of the ground and stop them supporting the Albion but he has to do his job. Anyway that enough from me just lets everybody think about all of this before we start going off about the stewards. Cheers guys, up the Albion.

Maybe it should be said that this only happened in N1A - i dont recall any problems in the rest of the stand so it isnt all bad.

As far as i know, the rear 7 rows are allowed to stand, thats it.

There seemed to be plenty of plod around the stadium tonight which seemed strange as not many away fans and low key game. The backup of Sussex finest probably had much to do with the stewards being more active in the ground. I can see the North becoming a fan v stewards
stand-off every game now which is not needed.
