After the Saville inquiry former conservative minister Norman Tebbitt has called for an inquiry into the Brighton bomb. Somehow i don't think he will get one.

well there was a trial and a man found guilty so that should be seen as some kind of inquiry. Although he was then released under the good friday agreement which I don't think should have happened.

That's a bit harsh. If he appears on Big Brother though, he's going to get abuse. Surprised someone with the balls to go to Belfast would stoop to Big Brother

Lets face it, only about 3 are people are watching Big Brother

What on EARTH could an enquiry do other than come to the conclusion that "The IRA acted unlawfully in planting a bomb in the Grand Hotel" ?

I think the Inquiry will be to find out what terrible mistakes were made that led to Thatcher being missed.

I think he's just making a perfectly valid point that the IRA / SF lot shouldn't get too high and mighty about all of this, as there were some horrendous crimes conducted by them as well.

Yes, the shooting on Bloody Sunday were unjustified, but so was Brighton, Manchester, Omagh etc etc etc.

Martin McGuinness was getting very precious yesterday about the comment made concerning his possible involvement on Bloody Sunday, which is a bit rich coming from a former terrorist.

bit you have inquiries to identify errors, causes, ways to prevent etc and when no criminal trial has taken place, some attempt to identify what happened. In this case of the Grand Hotel there was a trail and so it is clear, who, how and why. In terms of how to avoid /cover errors, that too could be seen to have happened.

I quite agree. But that's why the Saville Inquiry must end with the remit you describe, and not be railroaded into a search for individuals to blame, and face prosecution.

If the Good Friday agreement can give Patrick Magee his freedom back, then we must be saying the same for both "sides".
