Good call by the OP - Cardiff are going to come back big according to people there who are very well informed although you would expect them to offer less than the reported £1.7m they were prepared to pay in January.

I would expect us to say that if they match that he can go.

Shame because I love the guy but it would be too good to refuse at this stage of the season when we have time to rebuild without him (unlike in January)

I find it quite plausible that we did accept Cardiff's last bid for Noone in January but he turned them down, as some people have said.

I'd take it if it was offered again.

For 1.7 million, I'll drive him down there if you fancy navigating

If selling to cardiff accept less provided its all paid up front, if they don't get promoted this season its portsmouth time for them.

Cannot believe the amount of people on here willing to let Noone go. Very short memories of his form at the beginning of last season. If we were 1-0 down with a team that has 'parked the bus', I can't think of a better player to open up a defence with dribbling ability. Lua Lua has had some excellent games like Derby at home but is he that reliable that we can just dismiss Noone? Personally I think our wingers are our strength and wouldn't want to lose any of them.

He has (hopefully had) no end product.
I'd keep him in a heart beat, and he'd be first on the team sheet, if that can be resolved.

As it stands Buckley, KLL, Calde, Vicente (?), Barnes, new players.
Can all beat defenders and get crosses in.

If Noone can be properly trained up, he stays.
If not he'll go down in value from a million+, like a stone.

As usual Gus' call, we stand by Gus.

I'd rip their hands off for that cash for a winger who 9 times out of 10 either loses the ball or puts his cross out for a goal kick.

I wouldn't put it so dramatically, or offer as harsh an asessment of Noone, but agree with the gist of it.

Much as I really like Craig Noone, anything in the region of £1.5m would represent a very good bit of business. Ultimately, there are better players available for that kind of money.

I do love Noone and think he could be a real star this year so won't accept £1.5m myself. That and he's a model pro around the club and clearly loves representing the Albion. We've had our share of players in the headlines for the wrong reasons, so I think it's great there are some top lads like Craig Noone around too. I realise sentimentality shouldn't come in the decision of whether to sell or not, but I do also think his ability alone is definitely worth keeping hold of.

To be fair, you could be talking about Buckley from after the Newcastle game till the end of the season there

We could get a lot of player for 1.5m tbf would snap their hands off and use the money to buy an outstanding CM.

We already have Buckley KLL and Vicente in attacking midfield options and they are all better than Noone.

You could, but you'd be wrong.

He won a penalty in the very next game, and scored the winner in the game after that....(for starters)...

All of our wingers blow hot and cold. KLL and Buckley have shown flashes of brilliance but have also had games where it just hasn't happened. Nooney is exactly the same, but maybe his purple patch was confined to one period - remember when he was always man of the match?

Having the option to deploy any of the three, to suit the game or to cope with injuries etc, seems a very sensible strategy to me. And it certainly doesn't hurt to have a player in the squad with such a love of the game and a pride in what he does.

Given the potential strength in the side for Noone's position I personally would rather see him go, we realise an offer something along the lines of Cardiff's last one and the lad gets a chance to play regularly.Agree he was immense in the first third / half of last season and form dropped off for the second half (hamstring) but if our medical team can't sort him who can? Great bloke, will always be a fans favourite but I would rather see him playing every week ,even for someone else. Too good to sit on a bench anywhere else but here.

Ok my memory is not great for remembering specific games, so maybe Newcastle was a bit too early! But he wasn't good for quite a while at the end of the season (no one really was I admit), but lost count the times he would run down a blind alley almost and just make the wrong choice at the end.
