Ther have been one or two reports of some non-league clubs failing to pay/declare tax on players wages, simply how does that work ? For arguements sake lets imagine Bill Best is striker for AFC Monday his contract is £100 basic, plus £20 a goal £10 an assist in his last match he scored two with one assist, therefore his wage is £150 what is the non-payment of tax all about and surely it is only a question of time before the taxman catchs up ?

Maybe they tell HMRC they're paying them one amount but actually pay them more on the sly.

As someone who has been in the situation where money is deducted from the PAYE and not passed on to the Revenue I can tell you that the Revenue will do nothing and give the employer carte blanche to carry on doing it. HMRC don't really want the hassle of chasing employers.

That may be because HMRC have cut so many staff to "save money" so there's few left to chase those who fiddle the system.
