Also is the rule is that you have to have English blood to play for your country, why is not the same to manage it?.

I want an Englishman in charge of my Country who has his team and country at heart.

I agree wholeheartedly. However, given the dearth of quality English managers right now, I'm glad the rule doesn't apply to management.

We have an Italian commercial director where I work who has lived in England years and speaks fluent English. But he sometimes 'forgets' some to have clients / whomever drop any bullshit and clearly come out with what they want to say.

I think it might be an advantage him speaking little English, as he can't pussyfoot around the subject if all he knows is how to tell it like it is.

I was curious as to how the hell Fabio communicates from the touchline as he can not speak a word of English.

if you want an english manager to manage england then you clearly want england to perform badly. can you seriously think of a SINGLE english manager with a track record even anywhere NEAR that of capello's?!

no english manager has come anywhere near winning the premiership, with the exception of KEVIN KEEGAN

so come on, who would you like to see as manager, who has 'the team and country at heart', seeing as capello clearly doesn't fancy winning anything

His english is fairly good already in just a couple of months. Good enough to talk to the players totally in english. He just doesn't talk to the press in it yet because he thinks they "will twist what he says" or words to that effect. Basically, the bloke is no mug. He knows if he talks to the media in english and says something slightly different to what he means, the papers will lynch him the next day. All that matters for now is he talks to the players in english, and let's face it, he probably speaks better english than a lot of them.

As for wanting an English manager, well yes, I agree with the sentiment. But I also think getting the RIGHT and BEST manager are more important. As things stand, there is NO suitable English candidate. Fat Slob Barwick f***ed it up last time by settling for second best based on nationality, thank god we've got a class act in this time.

Word.

Still, I reserve comment on this guy until he's actually DONE something. I hope and pray that what I saw last night was NOT in any way influenced or interpreted from his management - as it was crap and we could just as easily have drawn or lost that. As the commentator said about the first half, they looked like they'd never even SEEN each other before, let alone played together.

I don't want to say for another 4 years "England are shit", but this geezer has a LOT of work to do to make sense of that shambles he has inherited.
Perhaps another one who'll wait for years to play Beckham, then we'll look good around a 35-year-old in a friendly testimonial to sentimentally give him his 100th cap.

McClown took away the leader and couldn't lead himself, and last night didn't suggest much different.....yet.

This was the same manager who stood on the touchline barking instructions and knew enough English for Gary Lewin the physio to have a word about a suspected injury to an England player?

Presumably CroydonBloke wasn't cheering the Canadian/German playing for us and was only half cheering Rooney seeing as he's half Mick.

They might have well not seen eachother before. It was a totally diffrent team, in a new formation, playing with new tactics that the have only had 3 days to learn!

Of cause it was going to be a close game against a young team that didnt concede a goal in the world cup and are 18 months older! I'd even tip the Swiss to reach the semi's of Euro 08!!

Ive got every confidence in Capello to have the england team winning and winning well by the time the serious games get started in September!!
