So ... If the Albion turn out to be the ONLY club that complies, everyone else gets fined and we get ALL the money?
Would that then put us in trouble under the FFP rules :jester:

So ... If the Albion turn out to be the ONLY club that complies, everyone else gets fined and we get ALL the money? If the other clubs also suffer a transfer embargo, does this mean we get a free run at any player who becomes available?

Sounds like a good deal. Increase the price of pies NOW, please.

That would be a disaster - transfer embargo on everyone except us - where would we get our players from?

Seems like a huge GAMBLE to break FFP rules in the hope of getting to the promised land. The last thing clubs want is a chairman who likes a gamble ....

ooooh, wait a minute ......

Shirley would make sense to say, if you break FFP you can't be promoted - simples!

My understanding is that our last accounts showed that we lost £8 million in a year. We cannot go on losing that sum of money, things have to change and are changing.

In general too many players are being paid too much for what they produce on the pitch.

The problem is the promotion happens before the FFP figures are known. However, automatic relegation at the end of that season, and a fine the size of the Premier League TV money would do...

Top players who were relegated because their teams weren't good enough, players who were promoted because they are good enough for the championship but not for the prem, fringe prem players who don't make their 25 man team, foreign talents who want to come over to the English leagues and maybe need to prove themselves before getting to the prem, players who are out of contract with other championship teams who are free agents.

Plenty of options,

Foreign owners at Forest who see them as an investment that will only give them a profit if they make the premiership can just bugger off at the end of the season if they're gamble/investment doesn't work out and leave any new owners with the resulting mess. Said many times but worth saying again. I know who I would have owning and running our club!

Well said.....Again!:D

Are we saying then that we play by the rules...don't get anyone else in for the rest of the season...slash and burn...with the hope that we get a. Windfall from FFP which will fund a player of two next season?

Something doesn't seem right with the finances at the club at the moment!

I don't think anyone is suggesting that at all. We want to play by the rules and will be delighted to take money from others that do not, as a consequence.

That would have been an option, but it's not the option they chose. Actually spreading money out to other clubs is quite cool. Yes, those clubs haven't got promoted, but many of them would have never expected promotion in the first place, and a couple of million to each of them would be good for league clubs. It's less good for those that had a decent chance of promotion, and got screwed by those that overspent.

Would that not result in us only being able to comply with FFP if we receive the same amount of fines each year in order to cover the new players wages? If teams start complying our revenue goes down and we will make larger loses. I suppose, unless the new players are signed on short contracts.

Only if the club rely on receiving FFP fines as income. I would hope that we would treat it as a bonus - so we would buy new players with, or whatever, whilst ensuring that the ongoing costs (wages etc) are still met by our normal income.

I think TB is probably expecting the club to fund itself from here on in and FFP has probably made it easier for him to make that decision. If we didn't have so many injuries I think we'd be well set. We have decent cover in all positions now, just a shame that so many of the injuries are to key players.

I think you are over reacting somewhat. I just hope we can find that elusive loan striker, elsewhere we are covered.

It's still well worth going balls out for the prem whichever way you cut it.

All ffp has done is clear the way for teams like forest to have a run at the prem. If they go up the proceeds outweigh the fines and they can plough more money in anyway, and the risk of failure is lower because of other clubs sticking to ffp. More players available too

Surely all the undisclosed fee's that you have paid are higher than you've all assumed, KLL being the prime example who some of your fans have tried to claim he came on a free transfer. That, along with higher wages than some might think have to play a huge part in why your losses have been surprisingly high.

Considering that they dont need to report their accounts until November, this is not going to happen

This fact seems to he taking a while to sink in!

As others have said it's not FFP that's restricting us; it's the fact that 8m a year losses are not sustainable, and we would have been tightening our belts anyway. The fact is that FFP has come in at a VERY convenient time for us.
