Amazon is canning Neighbours. Somewhat bizarrely, they’ve said it will be “resting”, presumably like the Norwegian Blue.

I’m one of the generation that grew up with this show, we’d regularly watch after school. But then I grew up and moved on.

Is this the end? Does anyone really care?

When I was unemployed in the early 90s, I would wake up midday, watch the news then neighbours and I'd be angry enough to take on the day.

They made a huge deal out of the final ever episode then it got another season and now they’re cancelling it again. They should’ve just let it die peacefully. 90’s Heart Break High was better as far as Aussie soaps go.

On the topic, I used to love Neighbours but I’ve probably not watched it for at least 15 years. I didn’t realise it was still going.

Neighbours went out with a lunchtime broadcast and then a morning broadcast repeat the following day.[138] Michael Grade, the channel's then controller, was advised by his daughter to move the morning broadcast repeat to a late afternoon slot, as she and her friends kept missing it due to them being at school,[138] which took place from 4 January 1988
