Does anyone remember how, in the early days of British colour TV, American programmes looked awful? Something to do with the different technical standards that applied to colour broadcasting on the other side of the Atlantic.

The Yanks used NTSC 3.58 while we used PAL , there was a conversion process but it still meant Caucasian skin colours had a yellowy green tint and colour balances used to shift during a programme (NTSC was often jokingly referred to as "Never Twice the Same Colour").
