what a CLASSIC!

'Cause I remember when we used to sit
In the government yard in Trenchtown
Oba, ob-serving the hypocrites
As they would mingle with the good people we meet
Good friends we have had, oh good friends we've lost along the way
In this bright future you can't forget your past
So dry your tears I say

No woman, no cry
No woman, no cry
Little darlin' don't shed no tears
No woman, no cry

Said, said, said I remember when we used to sit
In the government yard in Trenchtown
And then Georgie would make the fire light
Log wood burnin' through the night
Then we would cook corn meal porridge
Of which I'll share with you

My feet is my only carriage
So I've got to push on through
But while I'm gone...

Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright

So, no woman, no cry
No, no woman, no woman, no cry
Oh, little darling, don't shed no tears
No woman, no cry

No woman, no woman, no woman, no cry
No woman, no cry
Oh, my little darlin' please don't shed no tears
No woman, no cry, yeah

its a RUBBISH song, as were all of Bob Marleys

Music that inspired a generation, a nation, and is still listened to the world over 30 years later. Yep clearly RUBBISH. :tosser:

I wouldn't go that far, but I don't think he was the best artist to come out of Jamaca in that era. What he did do was help to bring some great music to a far wider audience and get other people playing so really great music. :smokin: :smokin: :smokin:

if you go to Bob Marley's old house in Kingston (now a museum)you can still say hello to Georgie who would make the fire light...

can also see the bullet holes in the wall from an assassination attempt... interesting place to visit...

Reggae's emergent coming of age for the UK market.

I was shunned at school for liking reggae, then suddenly all the 'cool' and fashionable kids were scooping up Marley like they were with Led Zep the year before.

Never mind, if they missed Bob and Marcia, Harry J, and Dave and Ansil then they were the losers.
'Liquidator' still rules, and I love hearing it as I trot down the slippery slope leading to the Withdean :rave:

The free state of Kemp Town
Good song but nowhere near his best work.

And I can confirm the museum is a great place to visit. My Dad used to live right nextdoor, in Marley manor! And a dreadlocked guy who hung about by the Rizla stall at the end of the road used to sell me some quite lovely gear. Bob'd be proud

Blimey, I'm not the only one. Marley never inspired me partly because I couldn't understand what he was saying. Of course the fact that Reggae it virtually top of my most disliked musical genres doesn't help either.

Far, far away

Where’s your papa gone?
(Where’s your papa gone?)
Little baby Don
(Little baby Don)
Where’s your papa gone?
(Where’s your papa gone?)
Far, far away
Far, far away

Last night,
I heard my mama singing a song
Ooh-We, Chirpy, Chirpy, Cheep, Cheep
Woke up this morning
and my mama was gone
Ooh-We, Chirpy, Chirpy, Cheep, Cheep
Chirpy, Chirpy, Cheep, Cheep, Chirp

Where’s your mama gone?
(Where’s your mama gone?)
Little baby Don

Let’s go now
Last night,
I heard my mama singing a song
Ooh-We, Chirpy, Chirpy, Cheep, Cheep
Woke up this morning
and my mama was gone
Ooh-We, Chirpy, Chirpy, Cheep, Cheep
Chirpy, Chirpy, Cheep, Cheep, Chirp

Altogether now
Last night,

One more time now
Last night,
I heard my mama singing a song
Ooh-We, Chirpy, Chirpy, Cheep, Cheep
Woke up this morning
and my mama was gone
Ooh-We, Chirpy, Chirpy, Cheep, Cheep
Chirpy, Chirpy, Cheep, Cheep, Chirp

Last night,
I heard my mama singing a song
Ooh-We, Chirpy, Chirpy, Cheep, Cheep
Woke up this morning
and my mama was gone…
