Police have said there was no significant antisocial behaviour problem after the Albion's clash with Leeds United on Saturday.

A Sussex Police spokesman said the aftermath of Brighton and Hove Albion's 1-0 defeat was "quiet".

When the clubs met in October 2004, 15 people were arrested after a clash at the Pump House pub in Market Street, Brighton.

The spokesman also said there was no serious trouble after England's defeat to South Africa in the Rugby World Cup final on Saturday evening.

Rather than stay at my mum's house (in Worthing) after the game, as I do normally, I went back to Oxford for a friend's birthday party. Once I had managed to board the rail-replacement bus (at about 6.30: what a farce that was), and sat through the circuitous journey to Haywards Heath (the bus went via East Kent, I think), I had the pleasure of a carriage-load of Leeds fans for company on the train to Victoria. They were spitting, swearing, throwing beer on seats, kicking seats, intimidating fellow passengers, slagging off Brighton and generally behaving like creatures that evolution forgot. Given what a bunch of sub-humans most Leeds fans are, I wasn't surprised to see no more than three of them joining in the minute's applause for Frankie Howard.

I wasn't on the train with Unnameable so can't comment on his description of a carraige load of Leeds fans, but if he only saw 3 Leeds fans clapping Frankie Howard, then I guess there must have been no more than 2 Leeds fans really on the train spitting, swearing and pouring beer on the seats. And another thing, what sort of people pour beer over seats? Even Leeds fans wouldn't waste it would they

eh? How old are your grandchildren for them "to get involved"? What a blinkered and out-of-date view you have of football. Hundreds of thousands of us take children to footie games every week safe in the knowledge that there will almost certainly not be any bother.

Pretty much all of the Leeds fans clapped for the full minute as far as I could see.

I hate their poxy poxy club but have to concede that.

Loads of Leeds in the Brighton end judging by accents, and the only trouble was one gobshite who was promptly escorted.

No trouble antwhere that I have heard of.

If you can't take your Kids to a Brighton game...AT HOME.. for fear of violence, then you just have not been there lately.

I hate Leeds but it has to be said that nearly all of them showed respect for a long serving football person who died recently and, grudgingly, I expect a minute's silence would have been observed by them too.
