When will this problem ever be resolved? It is a farce to have a section of railway track that permenantly needs maintanance.

I wonder how that affects an average Withdean gate. I, for one, would go to far more games if I could get from Clapham Junction to Preston Park in 45 minutes and not have to spend over an hour in a rusty bus between HH and PP.

What is the official reason for this? This has been going on for at least a decade now. I once asked and was told it was regular work needed to shore up the tracks every so often. Why dont they just fix the tracks permanantly once and for all? I did ask this and got a blank shrug of the shoulders.

erm if you coming from Haywards heath downwards its free with your travel voucher. If your coming from north of HH buy a single to HH then use your travel voucher for the rest of the journey. common sense innit

I am referring to anybody else who may be visiting Brighton on Saturday !!!

Some train bod told me once (probably bullshit) that the maintenance work is to improve the tracks, allowing the new trains can run at top speed, sowe can have a 35 minute fast service to London Vic.

It has been ongoing for about 7 years at least..and always HH to Brighton stretch. Someone also told me there is a problem with the embankments the rails are laid on. You may recall the leaves on the line farce, Railtrack's response to that was to cut down trackside trees....not realising that their roots bound the embankments together. When the trees were chopped down the roots went and then the embankments started to crumble.
