The Premier League has not charged any clubs for breaches of its financial rules after all were deemed financially compliant for the 2023-24 season.

Most top-flight clubs had to submit their accounts for the 2023-24 season by 31 December and the Premier League is satisfied that all 20 members have remained within their profit and sustainability (PSR) rules.

A surprise, but not a huge surprise. It hasn’t taken long for ways to game the system to be found, be it selling hotels or your women’s team to yourself, or transferring academy players at first team prices.

The ones who try to stick by the rules suffer and the ones who cynically game the system profit.
Well, it buys them success on the pitch, but financially they are worse off from spending more than is viable for them.

It's the usual 'those with more pay less & those with less get done'.
The most valuable person at any club now seems to be the accountant.

The fact that it's even 'big news' is depressing. Sky covering it like its transfer deadline day is a real eye opener for the Beautiful Game.

This reminds me of a story many years ago of an accountant in Hove who got done for malpractise (or whatever). My Father used him and said he was the best!!!!
Sadly my Father went on to lose all his money to the Masons.
Bit like the tale of asking what 1+1 equals,
The mathematician says 2,
The Scientist says between 1.99 and 2.01
And the Accountant says “what do you want it to equal”

From the 1970s before you ask😳

It turns out that selling each other 20 million quid kids who will never play worked nicely. Well done everyone. Box ticked.
Well, it certainly worked nicely for Nottingham Forest as they made an excellent signing in the form of Elliot Anderson who has played (and been very good) this season.

It’s all bollocks isn’t it. Manipulative miscreants masquerading malpractices merely to make more money.

my answer to all the worlds problems is a wage cap on all tax accountants/lawyers not working for the tax authorities. that way the clever so and so's who would have been finding tax loopholes for rich people would be off doing other useful jobs and tax money comes flying in. (obviously, in this globalised economy it would have to be a world wide wage cap and we would have to have crack squads hunting down gangs of black market accountants in seedy backwaters)
