On the terraces!!
We simply cant create bugger all with these short corners and yet we always try.

A corner is the best opportunity to get the f***ing ball in the box and we ponce around the corner flag then loose it!!

STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!

On Monday Oatway started to jog eagerly towards the corner flag in the South East corner of the ground, and half the South Stand were shouting "NOOOOOOOOOOO!" at him. It's always Oatway who does it, and similarly he's developed an annoying habit of taking free kicks in the middle of the park. Since when was Oatway a dead ball expert?

I think Jones got the hint anyway, as he decided to swing that particular corner into the box.

Short corners are fine if they are done right, Also Charlie's run for short corners pulls 2 players out of position as you need two players to effectively defend short corners.....

They work if they a done right, we are just not doing them right...

How many goals have we scored with hoofing into the box from corners?

I say variety keeps the defence guessing, though the quality has to be better!

(ps if you have ever played the game you would know the importance of variety at set pieces - though I dont know why Charlie is taking the freekicks - but there needs to be movement in the box)

keep the faith :lolol:

It could be because they appear to have forgotten how to take a corner and there doesn't seem to be anybody capable of getting the ball into the penalty area accurately.

Against R&D Jonah had a corner nearly decapitating worms that Cullip dropped down onto his knees to flick on and one that went over everybody's heads and out for a goal kick halfway to the opposite corner flag.

Short doesn't seem such a bad option......shame we're shit at them too:lolol:

Correct me if Im wrong, but I slated the short corner that Jonah played on saturday, only for the ball to be floated in when Iwelumo had his goal disallowed.

While we are at it can we stop the crap throw-ins as well, where the thrower lobs it a couple of yards for someone to volley it aimlessly forward.

Whatever happened to retaining possession.

I heard mcghee say he'd told them if it was on they could take short corners but they do every bloody time!!! and as edna says its always oatway!.we r struggling big time from corners at the mo and although i'd rather have him in the box leon puts some fantastic balls in the box so how about letting him av a go at putting a few corners in for Chris,Danny, guy and virgs 2 try and get on the end of?

No challenge in that....far better to run about chasing the ball when the opposition has it (Leon excluded in this exercise;) ) Besides, I'm sure it's a ploy to deceive our potential playoff opponents. They turn up expecting to take the piss, thinking we're crap when all along McGhee has been building up the whole team's stamina by running around like headless chickens under match conditions (Leon excluded from this exercise;) ) in the end of season run-in to the playoffs.

;) :jester:

when we have players like iwelumo, butters and cullip who really can head a ball this is frustrating. get the ball in the box.

I think we need to start a NO MORE SHORT CORNERS campaign!

Everytime it looks as though someone is running in to take a short corner, shout "NO!" in unison. I have no objection however for Oatway to run out as though he is going to receive the ball thus drawing some defenders out the box only for the ball to be wipped into the box. oatway is short and not much use in there anyway.

The short corner where Knight fakes to pass it out to the corner taker but instead turns into the penalty area is a very good one - the others I agree are crap

I understand that Oatway is drawing players out, that's fine, but why do we always pass it to him. Can't we just use him as a decoy, and hit it into the box anyway?

Oooh, I think I've just found Charlie a role in the team...
