Defenders: Nathan Baker (Aston Villa), Joe Bennett (Middlesbrough), Matthew Briggs (Fulham), Steven Caulker (Swansea City, loan from Tottenham), Craig Dawson (West Bromwich Albion), John Flanagan (Liverpool), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Martin Kelly (Liverpool), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur), Andre Wisdom (Liverpool).

Don't bother me though, rather keep him rested up for 2 weeks during the break!

Suits me, we don't need him being risked. BUT it is interesting how many players in the squad have absolutely NO first team experience.

Surely playing a good standard of competitive football week in week out in the Championship is better than Premiership reserves and youth teams?

Meopham, Kent.
I think it would have been too early.

He's started the season great, but let's keep calm.

It seems like these days if you're English under 21 and playing for a Premiership team, you've got a good chance of getting called up for the squad, even if you've never played a first team game. I know the under 21's have done well in recent years but it's no wonder they were so crap in the recent European Championships.

He's played TEN games in his whole career. Let him get a full season under his belt then think about U21's.

i guess that means smalling will be in the senior squad

as much as poyet is a fantastic manager, he also has the great ability to come out with complete nonsense from time to time. suggesting dunk could play for the under 21s after just ten first team games for us is one of those times. if he keeps going the way he is though and is still regularly selected for us come christmas, then he might have a point

Alternatively, Gus could have said it to give him a great confidence boost.

And you could argue that it is working a treat.

At this rate it won't be long until he breaks into the squad.

Probably working!

Exactly this.
One should never question Lord Gus.
His tactical intelligence is unfathomable to us mortals. (except maybe Lush, who must have some kind of psychic link with our great leader!)
