No Albion DVD's to be released

I'm awaiting a response .....

Dear Mr Perry,

I am disappointed to hear from staff at the club shop that the club are not going to be launching any Albion DVDs due to an apparent 'low demand.'
I am interested to know when and where the research took place for this information to be stated as I feel sure that such a comment cannot be made without any such research having been carried out. Why are the club continuing to settle as being also rans? Videos will be defunct in a few years time and the sales of DVDs are flying past that of Videos. Why not abolish videos altogether and sell everything as DVDs with an extra quid on the price. It's very well known that production cost of DVDs amounts to slave labour, so I doubt that expense can be used as an excuse. Better still, why not ask the fans - the real people that run this club as to what they would like. I wouldn't be so bold to presume a whitewash in favour of DVDs, but I'm comfortable with the prediction that the sufficient demand would be there.

Regards,

Most people I know prefer DVD's because of the better quality picture and other options. I don't know anyone who replaces their video recorder for a more up to date model.

If you are listening Mr Perry, the future is not in VCR's, try to move with the times!

If Palace can do it why can't we?

I won't be buying the video.

I haven't used my video for years and have no intention of buying an Albion vid just to see if the frigging thing still works.

Once again the marketing arm of the club is missing out on additional revenue streams.

Get your shit together people, we want our Albion memories on something more durable than video tape.

I actually know quite a few people who don't own a video any more!:jester:

I own 2 DVD players, and no video. It's plain daft not releasing a DVD. As someone else said, ditch the video & only sell DVD's. It's bleeding obvious.

Idea's for extras:

1. DJ's from Skint
2. Jordan doing a sex show
3. Highlights from Gay Pride
4. Public Lynching of Steve Coppell
5. Top 10 tips for picking up women, by Des Lynam

My kids use the video player. The DVD is for me.

I also was waiting to buy the DVD and will not buy the video. I had actually not bought the second Championes video assuming that it would be released on DVD.

Come on guys. I thought our club was run by people with a bit of business savvy, but obviously I'm wrong!

I have a Video but its packed away in a box in th eloft as I don't ever use it.

Not selling DVDs is just foolish, yo uonly have to go into VIrgin or HMV to see how big the DVD collection is comapred to video now.

With the price of a basic DVD player now at 40 quid surely it won't be long until everyone has one.

I sold my complete VHS collection at the weekend, as I no longer use my video. Got about a pound each for them! I suppose its better than just leaving them in the loft.
I now have to start replacing some of them with DVD's!
No-one surely buys videos these days do they?

Apparently a lot of people are still picking up videos for only £ 1 each ( like me ) - I wonder who the suckers are selling them. I still play pre-recorded casettes from time to time as well !

Silly really - spend £ 15 on a video, sell it for £ 1, spend another £ 20 on a DVD. You pay a total price of £ 34 for something only worth £ 20.

Consumers are always the ones who end up losing out in format wars.

Sony / Universal / Warner Bros / MGM / 2oth Century Fox must be rubbing their hands with glee when people like Rambo come along, throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

and had you kept your vcr, you could connect it up to your DVD Recorder, and transer all your VHS on to DVD. Thus prserviung all your BHA memories on "something mopre durable"

Oh sorry I forgot, you'veonly gota playback DVD player (cos you oly forked out 40 sovs forit)

I am tihnking of getting a video capture card so I can play my videos into my PC and then burn them onto DVD.

That way I can put a complete season on one DVD rather than the two videos, obviously the quality will still be video quality but at least I'll be able to play them.

Why not save yourself the money, go up into the loft, unpack that cardboard box hiding at the back, put the contents of said box under your TV, connect it up with a SCART cable, and hey presto........

Jeeeze, hasn't anybody got any common sense anymore !

If the club thought the "video" wouldn't sell because we got relegated why didn't they create a "Farewell To Bobby" 15 minutes section to offset the pain.

I would love to own a DVD of all of Peter Ward's greatest moments and interviews, so why couldn't this have been done for 2002/03 season with a Bobby tribute.

C'mon Albion, show some imagination!

They've got no imagination or innovation, no idea of consumer demand and are totally apathetic to what people want. I think our club is run by Communists!

Why just 15 mins tribute? I expect most Albion fans wouldn't think twice about buying a DVD with all BZ's goals on it.
