Myself and Les are doing a 10K run in April and whilst training for said event I was shocked to discover one of my nipples bleeding from chaffing!

Any suggestions to prevent such a monstrous occurrance in the future?

Joggers nipple. Its proper sore, and quite common. You need to go to Boots and buy some corn plasters. they'll sort you out.

as 10cc say, not in hove
easy.

ignore anyone who says use vaseline, it's hit and miss.

the fail safe answer is a small cross of the white tape that you buy in chemists to dress wounds.

waterproof, 100% effective, it's got me through a number of marathons

You don't hear of many women suffering from joggers nipple.

Maybe you should try wearing a bra?

Probably is now that you actually HAVE joggers nipple, because it will be a tad tender.

Way back when, I managed to complete the London Marathon, and I found vasaline worked ok for short / medium length runs, but not once I went beyond about an hour. That should be okay for you doing a 10km run.

Beyond that, I experimented with with different clothing until I found a soft t-shirt, that didn't cause much problems, and combined with the vasaline got me through.

As unattractive as it may be when you first take up running and are probably carrying a bit of extra timber, a soft material in a tight-fitting top vest / t-shirt is the best way.
