I went last time and it was hostile but fine. Just get a coach straight in and straight out again, I wouldn't reccomend drinking there for the day or hanging about.

Very friendly indeed. Like every club they have their nutters indeed there was a chaop on the Sunderland site asking if WE were still a dangerous place to visit??!?! However, Cardiff also have some very knowledgable friendly fans that are an interesting sort to share a pint of four with before a game. I may well travel to Ninian next season and will travel with an open mind.

You have never been to a Cardiff v Brighton game? Like all clubs some of their fans are fine, it just seems a lot of them are mad and hate us. The difference is their fans in shirts will attack you as well. Not helped that you get half the stand behind the goal, to your right are the youngsters looking to make a name for themselves and to your left is the Soul Crew.

One thing that has not helped is the incident that happened when they came to Brighton during the 3rd Division Championship season.

Not a pleasant expirence and yes people, trouble at football does still happen.

I went this (last?) season for Baaardiff v Scumderland, in the away end, to get petition signatures.

Barriers have been erected so those in the main stand can't interact with the away fans, and the netting in the away end to separate you from the home supporters is higher and stronger stopping more coming through.

Police prescence also seemed better and it was only in the pubs afterwards I felt uncomfortable, and that was only after asking some Cardiff guys to support our fight for Falmer!

Yes, I'll be going along again, unless it it early in the season when I will temporarily be:

Las gaviotas arriba de la America Latina
(Seagulls Over South America)

no. i'VE DONE MY CARDIFF''S. Why spend the day bricking yourself and not enjoying the football.

And to Lammy....in my last trip to Cardiff, my mates were having a nice chat to Cardiff fans in a pub in St Mary Street etc etc, whilst this was going on, I heard a couple of the lads arranging for their mates to come over and get us.

Luckily we were part of a large Seagulls over London contingent and they realised they were seriously out numbered and became best mates again.

Maybe best we play them the week after they play Leeds.

I guess there will be some old scores to be settled on that day!

The point is before Sunday most Brighton fans would have been pretty sceptical about attending a match in Cardiff. Post Sunday however, how many can say they have seen the Albion in better surroundings and with a better atmosphere and that includes in the streets around the ground.

If Cardiff City could get some of that good feeling across to Ninian or when their new ground is up and running then they would benefit enormously with thousands rather than hundreds turning up supporting the away side.

I'm sure the majority of their fans are as peeved with the blooming Soul Crew as we are and as has been mentioned, The Albion and 80% of other clubs have their own 'blooming Soul Crews'.

iv been there the last 6 times we've played there and never shit myself as much as the last time! when the keeper made a cock up and bobby scored talk about intimadating.i remember as i left the ground i switched my phone of so gosbts wasnt blaring out and tried to mingle in amongst there fans as quickly and quietly as possible.
back the though bobby looked until last 10 that he was gonna give us 3 pts and the fact we had just won the championship above them and turned down a couple of bids for bobby was winding them up and for those reasons we were 1 of there priorties that season but next year they will have millwall, west ham, leeds and stoke to worry about.

i'll be going they wont stop me from watching the super stripes

Ninian Park and The Den are grounds my missus banned me from going to. She is more twitchy now that baby is on the way so don't think I'll be able to persuade her.

Likewise. I've never fancied going to either place anyway. I've got better things to do on a Saturday than feel less than secure when trying to watch football to be honest. Besides which, I have wife and 2 kids to think about. For me, it just isn't worth it.

And it makes me laugh when you hear fans of both clubs taking the piss out of other clubs away followings. Even Palace only take 1,500 or so to Millwall. Erm, I wonder why that is then?

We went to Millwall last season, (albeit on JMC's coach - straight in and out), and it wasn't intimidating in the slightest. A lot of that was probably to do with their mega strict membership scheme after the play-off violence (lost at home to Birmingham), but it was nothing like what we expected/feared.

Will probably get the coach again this season, (being a coward and all), but will definitely return. Would be good if we took a few thousand as well, because it really is a quality ground.

For years afterwards the memory of a visit to the Old Den was enough to bring on nightmares. And I wasn't a soppy girlie in those days either! So I was a tad "thoughtful" about the more recent trip to the New Den. In reality I don't know why I was at all worried - it was well policed without being totally OTT, their membership scheme seems to have half-emptied their stadium of the nutters I remembered and on the way back we queued up to get on the train with some jolly decent Millwall fans.

Ninian Park, on the other hand, is a tad thought provoking because I'm remembering the problems reported by people attacked while trying to get back to the car park and the attitude of the OB who seemed to think it reasonable to let the "boyos have their fun". But things might well be different now so I'm not going to let the events of a few seasons back stop me from going next season.

The New Den is fine. I travelled up there by train, got seperated from everyone and ended up have to fork out for a taxi from London Bridge! After the game all fans were let out at the same time, walked up to the station and all waited on the same platform. No problems what so ever. It was well poiced and we were not treated like animals a la Palarse.

I've never been to Ninian but (If I'm allowed, and have the funds I'd like to go).

I dont like the thought of being intimidated into not supporting my team.

Having been to Ninian Park twice, and got a proper shoeing in the car park before the last time, I think I can safely say I will not be going this time round.

Anybody can say what they like about the hooley's winning, but I will not put myself through that again.....

The policing last time was unbelievable. There had been all that stuff in the press that they would offer Albion fans escorts back to their vehicles, but when we asked about getting back to the station, we were told as we had travelled on the train, we had to take our chances. To cap it, the copper than asked how many of us there were (about 10 I think) and he told us that was a reasonalble sized mob, we should be ok.
