He can't be worse than such Rupert Lowe inspired choices as Stuart Gray and Steve Wigley.

That's just a few days after Southampton said Gorman and Dodd would definitely be doing it until the end of the season.

You can't blame fans for being a bit cynical sometimes, the amount of BARE-FACED LYING they have to listen to.

I'm not surprised they haven't got a big name though, Southampton really are skint at the moment and there is zilcho money for buying players.

I went to watch them at Rovers on Saturday and they were dire, and so were their fans. It was almost like they expected that sort of performance. Made Brighton fans look like "glass is half full" fans!!!

Why do these failed coaches carry on getting jobs ??. He has never managed before (only caretaker roles). These people go round and round. Same old names, same old 6 months in the job before the club realises they have f*cked up. Unbelievable !!

Was he not in temporary charge of Newcastle when they got stuffed 6-0 in between Aladyce going and Keegan taking over?

When Pearson was boss at West Brom they had by far their best spell last season.

Good appointment in my opinion.

Southampton is one of those clubs I've never really liked. Perhaps because they stayed in the top flight by the skin of their teeth for season upon season ? Reminds me of Torquay and their avoidance of non-league for what seems to me, an eternity.

As a lifelong armchair United 'fan' though, I could be harbouring some deep grudge from 1976 and my earliest boyhood memories.....Bobby f*#+ing WHO !?

My candidate for biggest chancer on managerial circuit has to be Bryan Robson......great player, shite manager !

Southampton will be clear favourites for the drop now.

Cannot understand why that should be as his record whenever in charge is quite good. I think that he will pull them clear of the relegation [places along with Coventry if they get Coleman.

Still a hope for Colchester to go down and Hammond play in Div 1 again.

It could be the appointment they needed. He is a tough cookie and managed to save Carlisle from relegation against the odds.

He was also the man that was an integral part in this little episode...

Southampton fans must be really hacked off. If they had managed to keep any of their young guns, then they may be in the Premier League by now. The board seem to be lining their pockets.
