, here with Danny Pike, has had a "most amazing" career with Southern FM
A radio show presenter is hanging up her headphones after two decades.
Nicky Keig-Shevlin, co-presenter of the Danny And Nicky In The Morning show at Southern FM made the announcement to listeners yesterday.
She said: "I have absolutely loved working at Southern FM. However, after 19 years of getting up at 4.15am every day I think I'm finally owed a lie-in.
"I've got a new phase in my life about to begin, kicking off with getting married in just a few weeks' time so it seemed like the most natural time for me to take a break."
Ms Keig-Shevlin has broadcast to 219,000 adults from 6am until 10am every weekday.
She co-presents the show with Danny Pike and Jack The Lad.
advertisementDuring her career, Ms Keig-Shevlin has broadcast from across the globe and has interviewed hundreds of celebrities, including the Spice Girls, Kylie Minogue, Diana Ross and Ant and Dec.
She also questioned Tony Blair twice during his time as the prime minister.
Ms Keig-Shevlin said: "It has been the most amazing 21 years at Southern FM and I've been lucky enough to meet so many celebrities, travel all over the world and do so many weird and wonderful things. I will really miss it - but not that damned alarm clock."
The presenter began her career at Southern FM in 1987, as co-host with the then Sunday evening presenter Tommy Boyd.
Two years later she began co-hosting the Southern FM Breakfast Show.
Programme controller Tony Aldridge said: "Since I joined Southern FM eight years ago Nicky has been an absolute dream to work with. She's such a fantastic talent and it's going to be a challenge to replace her.
"There are very few presenters in radio today who have spent 19 years on a breakfast show creating fun and entertaining radio every single day like Nicky has.
"I wish her the very best in whatever she decides to do in the future."
Mr Aldridge added: "I know that everyone at the station and our listeners will miss her."
Ms Keig-Shevlin's last day on air will be Thursday, June 19.
What superb news, i might even start listening again well prob not!!!
