All the supermarket chains and large shops have to end with an 's' even if they dont have one. General conversation about shopping doesn't sound right if you say you're going to Tesco or Asda and people understand better that you are doing a shopping trip to Tescos or Asdas. I blame it on Sainsburys and Morrisons for us us using a plural word for a singular one.

Well as TESCO is an abbreviation of TESsa COhen's and ASDA is an abbreviation of ASquith and DAiries, both ending in an S then it is correct to call them TESCO'S and ASDAS.
