Fine margins, would the Guardian have released that article this week if Muzza hadn’t equalised last Saturday?

My instinct is that most elements of our football have improved, but we are currently very brittle at the back and goals have been hard to come by.

I’ll feel far more confident in GP keeping us up, if we beat Watford. If we don’t, we’re running out of matches to get the 4 wins we need. It’s easy for fans to assume that every relegation rival is shite, but our own last 10 form makes grim reading:

Beyond the warm words, it’s simply time to start winning games of football.

Yet some still insist we're a complete shambles at that back. I'd say we're making different kinds of mistakes due to the change in style and we're missing Duffy's aerial prowess; which team wouldn't? Overall, though we're on the right track imo

I read this online yesterday and was going to post it myself. I just pray he is right. As soon as a larger amount of the shots on target compared with misses go in it would be good.

Doubly concerning when some of the "poor" teams we have to pick up points from in the minds of many fans (e.g. Watford) are a long way above us on that table.

The positive I took from that is our chances of relegation. We only have one less point than this time last season but last year our form absolutely collapsed we barely picked up a point and yet we still stayed up. So provided we don't have a repeat collapse we should be ok. I guess the only question is whether we're going to collapse again...

The problem is that other clubs around us are doing better than Fulham, Huddersfield and Cardiff did last season. So simply avoiding another collapse might not be enough.

Yes, that's true but it's only really only an issue if 40 points is what is needed. If it's 38 or less which it probably will be we're only 4 wins(or equivalent of) away from safety. If we can't get to 38 points then whilst maybe not being a collapse it is a pretty poor run of form.

It's made me feel more positive, anyway.

Of course I'm hoping that West Ham are going to fall away now thanks to that horrendous run of fixtures and that Villa will take their eye off the ball until the League Cup final so that 38 points ends up being the target.

Bournemouth have a tough run coming up as well. I read earlier they still have to play all of the current top 9 in their last 13 games
