Yet some still insist we're a complete shambles at that back. I'd say we're making different kinds of mistakes due to the change in style and we're missing Duffy's aerial prowess; which team wouldn't? Overall, though we're on the right track imo

I think the worry is the number of goals we are conceding recently in comparison to the number of chances conceded.
The style of play means we are conceding chances which are much more likely to cost us.

It doesn't feel like it's very difficult to score against us.
Meaning we need at least 2 goals to win.

I agree we are on the right track though.
Just it's a longer process than many can stomach.

Esp when your mind was made up at the start of the Fulham game.

There have certainly been times watching us lose the ball just outside our box through fannying around at the back that I miss Chris Hughton applauding Shane Duffy for hoofing it 70 yards up the pitch, if that counts.

Horses for courses!?

There are times we overdo it and we should just clear it but I also remember the ball invariably coming straight back at us in the “good old days” after a Duffy hoof since we never had anyone to collect it.........

So Potter thought that Andone was "inadequate". Hmm. If only he had come to that conclusion during the summer so we could have got a replacement in.

Was Andone so inadequate that he could not have contributed goals this season? As the article points out, quite correctly, we create but we don't score. Based on what I saw last season I think Andone does have the ability to put the ball in back of the net. But I guess we will never know now.

I hope GP's decision doesn't come back to haunt us all.

Or before his ridiculous red against Southampton cost us 2 points.

Sorry, are you saying that your mind was made up about CH at the start of the Fulham game?

No some posters minds were made up about GPott at the start of the Fulham game (first proper pre-season friendly)

I assume the journalist has not looked into the Andone question..... definitely not shipped out because he was inadequate...
And he might have scored a decent tally of goals this season.... but it was still the right decision IMO.

The positive I took from that is our chances of relegation. We only have one less point than this time last season but last year our form absolutely collapsed we barely picked up a point and yet we still stayed up. So provided we don't have a repeat collapse we should be ok. I guess the only question is whether we're going to collapse again...

As Davy said on the radio he’s a fan of GP’s tactics, they work but needs improvement in certain areas give it time and we will climb the table. Anyone who wants the Hughton ball back is a moron. Spurs away under Hughton was the day for me he had to go total anti football.

and this...

"This is a time for everyone at the Amex to hold their nerve. They are four points below Hodgson’s Palace but, all things considered, in a much better place."

In truth, even when our team was homeless and three divisions below them, we were in a better place: It's called Sussex.

The 'less points than last year' narrative has been used a lot by the media this season. Little attention has been paid to the fact that it wasn't the first half of the season that caused our problems. Saturday is our chance to end this talking point. If we win or draw, we will overtake 2018/19's tally of 27 points -11 GD after 27 games. Last year we gained just nine points between here and the end of the season. It seems obvious to state it, but our test from here is to be considerably better in the last three months than we were last year.

Really looking forward to the point this season where our points tally is greater than that of last season. Then we can put that one to bed and finally move on from CH.

Playing Devil's Advocate for a moment, it's quite possible that we could finish with more points than last season and still be relegated. Then we'd have no chance of putting the debate to bed and moving on.

Let's just make sure it doesn't come to that.

The simple fact this is NSC, is why we have absolutely no chance of putting the debate to bed and moving on

Well written piece and pretty much sums up the current position.

He has certainly kept a watchful eye on the inner pros and cons citied as he would have had needed to read 20-30 threads and 10,000 posts to form the holistic view on here

There is too much CH v GP. CH had his time with us and it worked very well until the end. Somebody had to come in and TB chose GP who has done all that could reasonably be expected so far. He needs to get the squad together now and bring some results to keep us up. Watford is a big game.

I think the post should have stated " GP 1 or GP2 "

But I agree with you about GP 2
