Anybody else apply for these?

Filled in a form that came with me leckie bill about six months back, promising free energy saving bulbs. Thought yeah, right, as you do, but filled in the form anyway, and forgot all about it. And - blimey! - today they actually arrived. 1 x 40 watt, 1 x 60 watt, 2 x 75 watt. By OSRAM no less. Good work price-raising energy company - thats THPP sorted for four lights for TEN YEARS apparently!

Every little helps

Mine turned up a couple of weeks ago. I will stick them in as the others die.

I would quite like some but I fear it would mean telling EDF my name and that is the LAST thing I want.

Quite happy being Mr T Occupier thank you very much

Wrong - as they are considered to be hazardous waste as they contain mercury, they should be recycled under the WEEE regulations

Did you also know that the Official advice from the Department of the Environment states that if a low-energy bulb is smashed, the room needs to be vacated for at least 15 minutes.

A vacuum cleaner should not be used to clear up the debris, and care should be taken not to inhale the dust.

Instead, rubber gloves should be used, and the broken bulb put into a sealed plastic bag - which should be taken to the local council for disposal.

Unbroken used bulbs can be taken back to the retailer if the owner is a member of the Distributor Takeback Scheme.

Probably best to simply leave it in the road then ?

All I want to know is where I can buy dimmable energy saving lightbulbs for the six lights in my front room that are going to cost a totol of over a ton.

Oh right. Why would three companies send you freebies if you're presumably a customer of only one?

I've a massively confusing choice of *two* electricity firms, so I'm not used to them doing promotions or anything...

Wrong broken bulbs are not subject to WEEE regulations.

Only intact bulbs are!

because when when the government was trying to get some concession on electricity prices, the utility companies eventually gave in with the plan to put aside few million to pay for energy saving bulbs. probably offset against tax if they are clever. so they litterly have them to give away.

really? i dont see how thats different. energy saving bulbs are considered hazadous waste and must be disposed of in proper facilities that do not go to landfill. joking aside, its going to be the asbestos problem of our generation.
