Palace were throwing coins and spitting on families from the top of the bridge. I wouldn't lose sleep if they got an angry dad or brother on their case.

The nature of the loss didn't help things in terms of us behaving.

A 'potential answer' to future 'potential problem' games:

Instead of letting the away fans board trains at Falmer Station, those who've travelled by rail are boarded onto buses then taken to Preston park station where a special train could be waiting in the bay platform to ship them North or West?

There is cost involved in special trains but when we played at Scumhurst in 02, everyone was herded to Norwood & put on a 'special train' to Brighton that was meant to be non stop to Haywards Heath. (Although some Muppet pressed the emergency stop button at East Croydon). Or attach extra carriages to regular services out of Brighton.

Even if you don't have special trains & 'problem fans' use regular services, at least the problem is moved out of central Brighton & more manageable.

Not a bad suggestion actually. I would also say move the game to a midday kick off to avoid drinking and less time for Pre match trouble.

Will your lot be paying for all the damaged seats and signs that were nicked from the away end. How about your lot apologising to staff who were abused and hit !!
Absolute bollocks.

All bars were re-opened afterwards (you think that would happen if people were whacking each other) and, after the game, the Stewards were thanking fans for their behaviour inside the ground. Well-behaved was what we were called.

A few broken seats happens in a celebration, as for nicked signs, I didn't see anyone wandering around with anything afterwards. They might have been knocked down in celebration, but these things happen.

Accusing our fans of assaulting staff is a lie.

Police where shocking!

To be fair they have 30 year high crowds to deal with, and we have not had away fans in significant numbers in Brighton for 14 years, they need practice so to speak-they may be highly trained and so on but no amount of real life situations can be taught in a classroom,it will come for them, this 1st season is a ramp up for all of us,in every way.

The Chief Constable is patting his lads and lassies on the back saying they did a good job. So they must have.
However the video of the police kettling and driving the heard up Queens Road past pubs full of Brighton lads drinking was not a good advert for Police Intelligence. (If that's not an oxymoron.) It's probably the result of University entry instead of proper coppering.
Then a couple of hours later they throw them all in the same queue.
Where did the 12 police horses come from? They got rid of the gee gee's 20 odd years ago to buy a helicopter, I think they got a couple back in the naughties, but 12, where do they hide them? :timmy:

Borrowed off other forces like Thames Valley.

Shame they couldn't have borrowed the failsafe tactics of Merseyside, Met, Gt.Manch etc on volatile derbies. Their self gratulation is PR nonsense. Sx Police were naive and got it wrong.

Personally, I think they should have remained at the ground until they had cleared up and repaired the damage they had caused.

It's the sort of treatment that used to be dished out to naughty schoolboys. Always worked very well then.

Know I'm going to get abuse for this, but logically it would be the Brighton fans kept in. Keep us in, and you have 2500 Palace fans to move on to either platform straight to Brighton and Lewes stations, onto waiting trains for London. No problem, they could be out the area in half hour and half way home. If they kept in, you have 20,000 Brighton fans heading all over Sussex and beyond which as we know takes lot longer to clear. In the case wit the AMEX being kept in isn't as bad as we would have the bars, teles etc. True not what I would want, but is the most logical way

i agree because of the poor transport from your ground you would have to keep us in for about an hour
i thought the police were poor
they should keep one set of fans back as it would solve a lot of problems but the police rarely do this these days, i don't know why

Keeping the home fans in afterwards doesn't work, it just makes the home fans extremely pissed off while the smug away fans go on their way.
They did this to us when we had m*llw*ll at our place a few years ago.

It would be a lot easier to keep hold of 2000 fans rather than 20,000. I think that the best option would to have it arranged for a sunday lunchtime, keep the away fans in for 20 minutes, then have them all escorted to the nearest train station or park and ride.

Allows time for the bulk of the home fans to be well clear of any potential flash points. Tuesday was a special case being it was the 1st league defeat at your new ground and it was the 1st time in ages we could take a decent number of fans.
