So now that it looks like we are not going to be in Euro 2008 is there another tournament that we can devote our time to during that annoying in between season gap? Perhaps we could come up with something that we are likely to win just so we can feel good about ourselves.

There is a cricket team just down the road from Hove Town Hall that are not doing too badly.

Ah yes I went to see them smash some leather balls around with large lumps of willow this year, lets hope for more of the same

*removes blinkers* well, you may be supprised to learn that;

1. Not all Jocks hate the English.
2. Not all English hate the Jocks.
3. Next Summer they really won't care who you are, if you're cheering the only British team in the tournament.
4. If I go I will be spending my time with good friends, drinking beer, in huge crowds of football fans, in beautiful settings, watching football.
5. I will have great Fun.

I much prefer tournaments without England being there. Don't have to see Sun-sold flags and plastic hats or under-skilled players blandly competing "heroicly" against teams with greater intellect and less bulldog spirit.
Makes it a learning experience, rather than being drowned by the identical mundanity of these over-sized egogoons.

Superphil,

You'd be more than welcome to join in with the tartan army, just leave the 3 lions at home and you'd be fine - you'll be surprised by the number of "foreigners" in our midst.

I'm actually a member of the Netley Abbey TA (yes the Hampshire Netley Abbey - see www.netleyabbeytartanarmy.net )

but sadly we won't be qualifying, we only have to beat italy to qualify.
