What price starting next season as Assistant Boss to Paul Jewell at Man City? They're good mates, it could happen...

Mike Newell is not necessarily a great manager, but he is a football bloke who obviously loves the game and if people above him at Luton think that in the right interests of the club is to sell their best players, then I feel really sorry for the guy. What chance has the bloke got !. I have nothing against Luton Town Football Club but I really hope they sink into oblivion, like we nearly did, because of complete non-football wankers in charge.

Think he is a good manager and not a yes man not afraid to speak out when neccessary.. If chairman worked with him rather than against him ,as they did at the start , you can see what he can do . Dont think he will be out of work long .

Some suggestions of a punch-up with one of the directors after the Hull game - and that Newell was allowed ten per cent of transfer proceeds, which would at least be one consolation for all the players the board sold, thus leading to the schtuck they're now in.

Then again, he did select a team the other day with three strikers on the bench, and Leon Barnett - a very promising defender, yes, but a defender - starting up-front for the first time.

And don't forget his programme notes the other week, welcoming Norwich to Kenilworth Road - shame it was Wolves they were playing! (and duly lost to...)

Had to sell more players than McGuru.

But he had 1.3m to spend, apparently, unlike us.

Why did Newell let Enoch Showumni go? Magoo should have brought him here before Bristol City got a sniff, especially since he utterly destroyed Magoo's side last season and has done so at least once since then.
