New York/San Francisco Hotels

Me and a mate going to NY for 4 nights next June before flying on for 2 to 4 nights in SF (then a couple of weeks travelling).

Has anyone got any recommendations about where to stay, budget in the region of £100/night for a twin room but appreciate we might have to go over that. Close to main attractions if possible......

Royalton in NYC, west 44th street. Incredible for atmosphere.
