Dean Marney

Versatile young player who can operate either in midfield or defence. Captain of our reserve side last season, where he was usually deployed as a right wing-back or full-back. Yet to feature for the senior side but did play in the Tottenham Tribute Match against DC United at White Hart Lane in October, 2002, and impressed alongside the likes of Jurgen Klinsmann and David Ginola.

There are so mixed messages. Argus quoted Mcghee saying that we won't be bringing anyone in and now it looks like we may be.

Great news!!

We can even sing our own Marney song to him, if it is him.

Think my username's been banned after spamming the official board. What's the story?

Re-register Safers. Funny thing all the away fans had all their posts disappear because they had to re-register including our own Royalali (he lost 3000 posts)

Mark Yeates’s loan spell will not be extended for a further month, and therefore the Spurs midfielder will play his final game in an Albion shirt on Saturday at QPR.

Seagulls boss Mark McGhee had hoped to keep Yeates for a further month, but the Premiership club have decided that they now want to take a closer look at the talented 18-year-old.

Speaking in an interview for Seagulls World, McGhee explained, “Spurs feel now that they want to see him back there, to see how he’s come on. He’s close enough to their squad that they want to start to integrate him at that level. It’s fair, and we’ve got to except that.”

The Republic of Ireland Under-19 star began his loan spell with the 4-1 defeat against Bristol City in November, but since then has been a valuable and exciting addition to the Albion squad. Understandably, McGhee is sorry to see him return to North London.

“He has had two good months here,” said McGhee. “It’s been a great experience for him and he’s made a big contribution to us.

“We always new it was going to be temporary, whether it be two months or three months. I think he’s made a solid contribution but now we have to get on with it.”

McGhee will now consider bringing in a further loan player as a replacement, and the Albion boss has already started his search – at White Hart Lane.

“Spurs have given us the opportunity to look at one or two other young players there. Dean White and I went to look at their reserves last night and they do have one or two players that we’ll consider bringing in to replace Mark.”

Meanwhile, McGhee’s search for an additional striker continues. The Scotsman wants to supplement his forward line, ideally before Saturday’s trip to Loftus Road.

“We do hope to have someone in for the weekend,” admitted the Albion boss. “We’re getting closer to finding someone. We’ve been around every club in the country about four times, looked in every Rothman’s book and on every website looking for ideas.

“But we’ve come up with a player who fits the description that we’re looking for and we hope to bring him in for the weekend.”

"And we've got to except that"

Has FG been writing for the website or something. Truly shocking spelling.

The fact that w keep going back to Spurs, do you think its because we did them a favour with Zamora. All those rumours that we signed a pre-contract giving them first dibs on him etc. Maybe if true, they agreed to do us a favour by us using them for loan players.

Just a thought

Spurs reserves beat Conventry 5-0 on Monday, this is the report

Pat Holland took charge of the reserves on Monday night and was a suitably content coach after the second string secured a hat-trick of wins with a 5-0 victory over Coventry City.
The Academy under-19 coach stepped in for Clive Allen, allowing Chris Hughton to join David Pleat in the stand to study the form of new boy Michael Brown and several other first team contenders.

It was also an opportunity for the management to assess the progress of the returning Christian Ziege, but this proved to be a brief one as the German was forced from the field with a gash above the eye that required five stitches. Johnnie Jackson replaced Christian at left-back and, as he has recently for the seniors, put on a display of great authority.

Goals from Helder Postiga, two from Michael Brown, Jamie Slabber and Rohan Ricketts settled the eventually one-sided encounter and Pat was pleased with the application of the team over the course of the game.

"I thought all the lads worked really hard and the early goal from Helder helped us and gave us a platform," commented Pat. "We went on from there and I feel we did okay. We had a bit of disruption when Christian got hurt, but Jacko came in and filled the space there.

"At half-time it was a question of asking for the same concentration and they went out and showed the same sort of attitude. I suppose there are always spells when you lose it a little bit, but the third goal really wrapped it up for us."

Two goals in his first outing in a Spurs shirt made it a memorable evening for new boy Michael and Pat feels that the recruit from Sheffield United will have benefited from the run-out.

"He showed a terrific attitude in what was his first reserve game. He worked hard for 90 minutes and I'm sure he got something out of the game, which is important. He impressed his teammates in his first game and that is excellent."

Obviously not gonna be the likes of Postiga, Ricketts and co, but Jamie Slabber?
