read today that despite the fact the torries are ahead in the polls, most people would prefer to keep gordon brown as prime minister. make what you will out of that!

Most people with any SENSE can see that the tories and David Cameron have NO clue, are badly lead, and have been made to look CLOWNS for YEARS of Labour leadership.
They continue to bang their heads against the Labour wall that is basically ignoring 'Dave' and his silly taunting, and they only serve to make Labour look a more mature and assured party.

Oh, that's right. It only counts when disparaging Tories who obviously have no right to be politicians because they were fortunate enough to be born to wealthy parents. How dare they have aspirations to be in Government.
Yes but that works in BOTH ways, doesn't it? I personally don't think the gap is more than 4% or so, and given the biased nature of the electoral system, that won't be enough for Cameron.
You have to remember his party only have 197 MP's, which is incredible as it is even less than Michael Foot managed for Labour in 1983 with his suicide note..

What GB has is time. Unless something very dramatic happens there won't be an election until 2010. If GB can keep Labour's noses clean then it'll be a fair fight. At the moment Labour seem to be mired in sleaze. While it's not in the same league of the sleaze of the 90s it has the same effect. Gordon Brown needs to find a little bit of charm and a sense of humour.
I think the next Parliament could be a very interesting one. Might well be that Labout need the Liberal Democrats to form an administration or maybe the Tories with a few of the right wing Northen Ireland MPs to form a minority administration.

indeed not. the 90's was nationwide level compared to the premier league sleaze today. I wouldnt even call it sleaze, that was a few individuals either do dodgy sex games or getting caught on the take unofficially from business (because declare it and its fine strangly). No, todays labour party is involved in is systematic deception and fraud, or possibly corruption if you want to go that far. It seems the entire upper echelons of the party think nothing of taking payments in secret, undeclared and in breach of laws they introduced themselves. I can only assume heavy political pressure has been applied to Police and CPS, because they should have nicked a couple of people by now - they even have on record confessions of law breaking

The Hain stuff, if true, is probably the worst of the stuff at the moment (as he actually stood to gain politically by not being linked to capitalists giving him money) but the Abrahams stuff was 90% ineptititude rather than malevolence. None of it even comes close to the Hamilton stuff.

The Abrahams issue was outright illegal. Harriot Harman has been tied up with dubious donations too. im not defending the tories in the 90's, im pointing out that the new labour version is worse and endemic though out the party.
