Today (or maybe yesterday) seems to be the day for players photos in the new kits. A few photos are making they're way through on their social media accounts. And although the home kit is far from our best, it does look a whole lot better when seen on the players in combo with the shorts/socks rather than those promo shots, or Norman Cook wearing it.

Still not having it. The shirt is far too "busy" IMO, its a mess. And once you've seen that giant H, there's just no getting around it.

Still, worse things happen at sea. I won't be buying it, I'm a grumpy 50-something so I won't be wearing it. I'll grow largely indifferent to it as the season rolls on.

For me its not a great kit, but after seeing it all together with the shorts/socks and being worn by a footballer rather than Norman Cook with jeans, its definitely not as bad as first feared. Maybe its upgraded from a kit I hate, to a kit im indifferent about. Strangely I saw lots of fans of other Prem teams giving positive feedback on twitter, saying they thought it was decent.

With the shorts and socks, it doesn't look too bad at all for playing football in. At the bar, stretched across a beer gut, it's one to miss.

This is a big part of it. They've designed (poorly some would say) a shirt that is purely a football shirt, but then marketed it with the Fatboy Slim release and those initial promo shots as more of a fashion item, which it certainly is not.

It’s marginally better from a distance - because one’s eyes aren’t immediately drawn to the yellow stripe running down from the yellow collar. (Such an odd design choice)

If those yellow stripes were white it would have been fine imo.

Not great, but fine. Either way, ‘H’ thing not ideal…

I've got a grandson with a 4th birthday in September, so I'll be emptying my wallet in the club shop to get him that kit ('supplier issues' allowing). I know I'll have great pleasure having a kickabout with him wearing it regardless.

Reading: "It's to provoke conversations about climate change across the football community".

No doubt, there will be a new shirt in 12 months...

I think I know where they got their inspiration from

I'm perhaps guilty of climate-crisis fatigue. Yes yes I know its a huge issue, no I'm not denying it.

But I watch / go to football for a bit of an escape from the depressing issues of the day. Sadly, football has gradually become a larger and larger conduit for every cuffing issue there is thats out there.

You say "sadly" but I do question that is is sad. If football wasn't an active participant in those issues, I'd agree, but I think football has to have a degree of self awareness in the behaviours it fosters. There's racism at football matches (in a way that there isn't, say, at tennis) so calling out is probably a good thing. The same with homophobia, so I struggle to have too big an issue with rainbow laces. I don't even find the manner in which they raise these "cuffing issues" particularly intrusive.

Climate change is quite a big thing and football is MILES from carbon neutral (or even close). Is it really that big a deal is a club that's not in our division does something like this?

You might be onto something here. I wonder if anyone in the fashion industry will get wind of this and realise they can sell more clothes by releasing pictures of them being worn by fit, young, good-looking people.
Regardless of the fact they will be bought and worn by... erm... less fit, middle aged men with ill-fitting jeans and a 6-pack [of Stella and a couple of pies].
