I really don't see what was wrong with the Sullivan and Kuipers partnership. They both got on very well, Sullivan was getting better and competing with Kuipers and both are well equipped to play at this level.

We have to remember there was a very shoddy and unorganized defense in front of Kuipers last year and really we only need a back up, personally I would have kept Sullivan.

100% agree.

Both Kuipers and Sullivan played well enough in the main last season in my opinion, and they were good competition for each other. I think Sullivan was massively benefiting from having the experience of Michel, and Michel was benefiting from having someone younger to teach and work with. The dynamic was good, and I felt that Sullivan would be very much our #2 this season pushing Michel all the way. I would have been more than happy with those 2 as our keepers. I'm still stunned Sullivan was released, and I still believe that his moving to Millwall vindicates my opinion that's a quality young goalkeeper who was improving all the time.

I also agree! When sullivan played he looked a good keeper, tranmere away and shrewsbury come to mind but there were more. I think he was unlucky, he seemed to concede quite a few goals yet always looked a good keeper, i think it was more that the defence was a shambles. How about Mark bunn? if thats his name, at blackburn, moved from Northampton but doesnt get played?

Yeah, but there's no room for sentiment in football anymore.

Whilst FDM lives on in my memory as a true legend, we can do better and personally I wouldn't want him to out stay his welcome (as No. 1) and tarnish those memories.

RS will sign a Big keeper, not as competition, but as his No. 1.

Also, I believe if Sullivan had a year left on his contract and FDM was out of contract, that he would have kept Sully and sacked-off FDM. Unfortunately for Sully it was he who was out of contract.

That is bang on the money.

I think that the best most logical choice would be Scott Flinders. Unless of course there are other experienced goal keepers who are unsettled like say Cuddiccini who we dont know about.

I'm surprised so many people are so keen on Sullivan. I know he was young, but I thought he was average verging on poor. Kuipers is a good shot stopper, but has always struggled to organise a defenders. That was obvious when we bought Beasant in a few years ago and became so much more solid.

We need a new No.1 settling for Kuipers or Sullivan would be disappointing.

Whoever it is, the Complete Badger is not going to happy when he relegates FDM to backup keeper, it could be GOD and there will still be binfests par excellence

Those last 2 paragraphs are pure speculation...

Agree with that too. Thought we'd need to do a lot of rebuilding this season, but one area I didn't think we needed to splash the cash was on keepers - other areas MUCH more of a priority, in my opinion.
