I think the club is being extremely draconian with the punishment here. All they need to do if someone is caught, is deduct 100 points off their loyalty points, then they won't be able to buy tickets in T1 to T2 and pass them on will they?

The phrase: 'it takes two to tango' springs to mind. So why aren't the club punishing the recipient of the ticket that has been purchased too? If, as is being suggested, people are passing on their away tickets to other supporters, then why aren't they being punished too? If they didn't ask for the ticket to be purchased or accept it off the season ticket holder, this wouldn't be happening would it?

I agree, apart from the draconian bit. People that are purchasing tickets from others know they shouldn't so should be equally treated as harshly, ie same penalty. Tackle the problem from both sides of the market.

Also, we all know that on occasion one of the group can't go on the day. We have to buy the tickets so ridiculously far in advance (two months sometimes), that lots can change. At the moment passing that ticket on is a breeze. What happens now? Do you risk? Probably not, so that ticket goes to waste. Do the club really want less away fans there?

He asked if he could transfer that ticket to another STH who has a points record and he was told no
He was informed that the tickets are now in the post and cannot be changed and also the ticket cannot have a refund, so there’s one empty seat . Well done Albion another pissed off STH

But the announcement doesn't address that at all, does it? If you have a ticket in hand, you can pass it on to someone else, and there are no subsequent checks on the person who presents the ticket at the turnstile.

What the announcement and process change seeks to address is the situation where someone intentionally buys a ticket for someone else at the outset, as they may be randomly selected for collect-at-ground-with-ID.

This announcement doesn't address the issue but if going forward they are still finding people getting arrested with tickets they should not have then they will probably take even more measures about identification. To be honest, away e-tickets can't come soon enough.

The problem is that some morons who have got these tickets have got arrested or ejected so they have brought the problem upon themselves as well as everyone else that passed the tickets on! Football authorities are not going to stand by and watch standards descend to the levels of the 70s and 80s!!

….and this is where the process falls down - similar to some of the sharing quirks. The fact the ticket can’t be transferred to someone in the correct points tier is stupid.

So if someone is on 474 points after the Liverpool game, just deducting 100 points, still leaves them in Tier 1 and able to purchase tickets, and therefore they have effectively not received any punishment.

Tend to agree with most of that. The simple solution for the club to show fairness is that loyalty points accrue for the individual and not the ticket. If someone has corporate tickets then they should have to register with the club who is using them and that individual will need the relevant loyalty points to join the queue. That would mean individuals that have 1901 and go to games will get points as they always have. There may well be some corporate tickets that are used by the same person and they too will get points but it will stop people like your liverpool example freeloading.

Should we also stop players having tickets as well? yes is the answer. Millwall away I ended up speaking to two dutch guys who were given tickets to the game , not Brighton fans but fans of a player....

There is a reason why Arsenal/Manure have a ballot it’s fair.

Maybe fair in some ways but for example for the ballots for the games played during COVID I ended up in 4 group each time. Lucky for me I did not want to go. A fairer system would be to have taken out the people who won in first ballot so people in second ballot got a better chance to attend then continue through cycle.
